I want to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for anonymous web surfing, is there any specific settings I should create?
I did some research about that and somehow I found a topic related to my question but it's not for Linux host environment and because I am not sure if it's going to work I open this new thread...

I am such a lad that always chooses the complex way. From what it is written in Wikipedia, Remobo might be a solution for you.
And welcome to the computer world, where you need to read a lot of documentation at each step!

Is is going to be a long learning curve for me. I guess I should seperate the two. Meaning, when I have a hotspot connect and when I have a Verizon connection. I will contact Verizon for that info, and if I can map a drive for MM. But for hotspots could you explain a little further? I did look at my router spec's and it says it has VPN pass-through, whatever that means.

What most people do (that is, my brother does it!) is Remote Control of the computer. [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vnc]VNC[/url] and its variants can get you started, although there are many other tools. I will let you decide which is the best for you, but I do remember one that used GPG keys or similar strong security algorithms.
At the end, it is not [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VPN]VPN[/url], because you are not making a virtual network. Correct me if I am wrong, but routers and other network devices need to support VPN. I do not think many home routers allow that.

Would like to setup up a connection to my library while I'm on the road. So that I can edit the database on my down time. I have a Verizon account which offers this, but I am complete novice at this. I also have a static ip.
