Audio files can be in Music, Classical Music, Audiobooks or Podcasts, which will be where is covered here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

All those Collections also have a Location node and it is the best way to find lost files as tags may not always be what you expect.

I still want to know why I couldn't see the songs in either classical or music nodes. That doesn't make sense to me. It makes me wonder what other songs I'm missing.

I just got home and checked this. The files ARE present in ENTIRE LIBRARY -> LOCATION. I was able to drag them over to the Classical Node/Tree and they appear now. I am not sure why they didn't appear in either Music or Classical until I moved them there. I could _not_ move them from EXPLORER, but I had to do it from ENTIRE LIBRARY.

I'll check it out this evening. I'm running MM on my laptop using the UNC path back to my FreeNAS box. And my laptop is with me at work. Thanks for the assistance, and I'll let you know.

Then use the Entire Library > Location (enable under File > Manage Collections) node to navigate to the folder where the music is supposed to be and confirm the files really aren't in your Library.

When I do a manual scan (Hit INSERT key and verify that \\10.0.0.50\public\music is set to scan continuously, then hit OK), MM scans, and it doesn't say there are any errors in that particular folder. It says there are some errors on another folder, and a couple files, (all FLAC). But it's a Fatboy Slim album, and part of a Dr. Dre album. (Eclectic doesn't begin to describe my musical tastes).

How do I tell MM to just scan that folder? I have MM set to monitor the entire:

\\10.0.0.50\public\music

When just scanning that folder does it show it failed (in scan report) to add the files when the scan is done?

Yes, I have checked all collections and they are not listed in any. I have also verified that there's nothing "special" about the file. VLC reports it as stereo, 16bit 44.1kHz flac files. This is Disc 2 of a 2 Disc set. The first Disc is showing in the Music Collection and Classical Collection.

Did you check in the correct Collection? Any files with Classical in Genre should be found in the Classical Music Collection instead of the Music Collection. Try navigating Classical Music > Location to the file's folder. If not found repeat in the Music Collection. Note that Genre's with Podcast, Audiobook or Audio Book get added to their respective Collections: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

MM Not Adding Files to Library

Post by joltman » Sun Apr 22, 2012 9:26 pm

I've got some classical concertos that I'm trying to add to my library. The folder structure is:

music/artist/year - album/# - Artist - Title.ext

For the concertos, I'm removing the Artist from the filename. It helps to reduce the filename length. Before I did that, MM would throw an error about "not able to read file info" or something like that. When I eliminated the Artist from the filename portion, MM no longer threw that error. However, it's still not adding 2 entire folders to the library (about 7 songs). I have verified that the files in question (FLACs) have the correct tagging. I have opened them in VLC and in MP3Tag and they play and have the correct tags. What's strange, is that the files that are seen in MM and those that aren't have about the same amount of characters in their path/filename. Here's an example of one that works:

\\10.0.0.50\public\music\Beethoven\The 5 Piano Concertos - Alfred Brendel, Sir Simon Rattle & Wiener Philharmoniker\Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 4\3 - Piano Concerto no.1 in C major, op.15 - 3. Rondo. Allegro scherzando.flac

Here is an example of one that does not work:

\\10.0.0.50\public\music\Beethoven\The 5 Piano Concertos - Alfred Brendel, Sir Simon Rattle & Wiener Philharmoniker\Piano Concertos Nos. 2 & 3\3 - Piano Concerto No. 2 In B-Flat Op. 19 - 3. Rondo - Molto Allegro.flac

In both of these examples, I chose the longest filename in that directory. As you can see, the file that _doesn't_ work, is shorter than the one that does work. Very strange indeed. What else can I do? I'm running the latest 4.0.3.1476 on Win 7 SP1 x64. I have a Gold License.
