How to update mp3 files?

Post by zapeterset » Sun May 20, 2012 7:21 am

This is my situation. I have a great bunch of old 128kpbs or worse mp3 in my music collection from the old days when downloading 1 song was an 1 hour long task. Now a lot of my favourite albums are in this low sh**ty quality and I want to "update" them to 320mp3 or flac.

The question is: Is there any way to tell mediamonkey to swap the old files with the new?
The only way I know right now is adding the new ones to the library, then manually copying every tag and info I can from the old ones to the new ones and then deleting the old ones. This takes away time and some info like play number.

I´ve searched the forum but I haven´t found any better way to do this. I guess there must be a script or addon to swap the actual files but keep all the tags and data asociated with them. Am I wrong?

Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
