Hey I hate to admit it, but the same thing happened to me and my collection! This happened a while ago and I was so upset that I kind of gave up and a portion of my catalogue remains in shambles...

A year or so passes and currently my plan is to take the time (whenever that happens) to try and figure out (via wiki and these forums) how the power of this library and cataloguing abilities can be used properly - and then attempt to use it to fix the situation with the tags I broke with an earlier version and rebuild the database and collections properly from the ground up as these features were intended to be utilized and stuff!

Anyways, hang in there man! I'm sure somebody around these forums here, has enough knowledge to help you devise the proper tagging prototypes and scripts or something...

Computers will ONLY do what they are told to, you have to be damn careful what you tell them to do. You had to have selected the Remove from Now Playing/Library/PC option. Mass Tagging is dangerous.. I've caused myself problems with it, fortunately I had a backup to recover from.

It would seem that you incorrectly used Auto-Tag from Web causing the incorrect tags (it will show you the results of the tagging prior to applying the changes). It would also seem that you did allow it to remove from the PC, I have removed files from the Library many times and never has it removed files from the PC. However in most cases the files can be found in the Recycle Bin (based on your Windows settings).

Well, frist it labeled all my files with the same album and artists, then I went to remove from Library to repair the messed up tags( with another program) I DID NOT SELECT remove from hard drive, and NOW all my music is gone! Thanks Media Monkey!

Recap: renamed ALL music the same artists, and album

deleted ALL my music.

WORST PROGRAM EVER!

P.S. I"m a professional audio producer, it's what I do for a living. Seen a lot of wacky things with programs when it comes to music flies...NEVER EVER anything like this!!!!!!
