I support Lowlander suggestion. It never hurt to know what you paid for and what you are entitled to especially as all GOLD members are occasionally challenged for promotions, free stuff, discounts, ...

FYI Let Some Correct me but First version of MM (Songs-DB) was released before iTunes for Windows even existed and surprises are yet to come.

License can be looked up: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=84

Otherwise contact support with as many details as possible on the purchase like date and email that was used.

Depending on how you paid, your V3 Gold license # should be on file with Ventis, or in a payment receipt, or in the Help About or settings of Mediamonkey (I seem to recall it's displayed). I keep those things on a NAS with escrowed installers and config files, as well as LastPass (which is superb, and a bargain value of $12/year for premium which allows mobile use)(end of shameless plug).

I bought Lifetime when I decided to use MM for my entire digital library. I use maybe 40% of the features, but based on what I saw, made a commitment that I would continue using for several years, faults and all. Since 3.x was in its last year or so, I presumed that I'd be buying a Gold license again, and felt that buying the Lifetime took care of that and then next version after. Ventis and MM have been around a while (I found reviews going back a few years) so I didn't worry about my extra $ going into a company that would die off.

Thanks guys. Both answers very useful.

Unfortunately, Lowlander, I have mislaid my Gold licence for V3, so that option is not available to me. As prices go, it's not going to ruin me to pay the requisite fee and, as Peke points out, the occasional financial contribution shows continued support, which I am happy to do for this wonderful service.

It's just the timing! July is holiday/vacation month, and the month when my car needs all the annual expenditure (tax, service, MOT and so on). Perhaps I'll leave Gold until August or September.

Thanks again, guys.

Mike

Hi,
Regarding second question, MM major version is updated commonly happen around every 3 years (taking past statistics). Unless there is really big number of features added that justify Major version update.

Some users pointed "... Lifetime is great deal, but version license express my support every few years..."

I would guess that version 5 is still far in the future. If you have a 3.x license you should contact support with your Order Reference Number to see what deals are available for a 4.x license: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=57

Going for Gold: The Dilemma -V4 only, or Lifetime?

I'll be honest, it's a tough call.

I only want Gold for the ability to use the 'Sleep' function on my desktop, and the ability to convert MP3 files to 320 on my laptop - both facilities lost to me since a recent upgrade to V4 from V3.
My libraries are music only, and I neither store nor watch films/TV/videos/pics etc. on either of these devices to any great extent that they would justify the need for all the capability added by a Gold licence.
MM has, these last few years, been my preferred media player though, and I don't want to give it up.

So, how soon could it be - realistically - before V4 becomes V5 and I am faced with the possibility of buying another Gold licence to give myself the option of having these two functions at my disposal once more?

Thank you for reading, and for any useful info offered.

regards

Mike
