I think what you are wanting is a 'folder watch' feature, of which is possible with MediaMonkey GOLD (paid version).
With Gold, you can specify particular folders to watch and whether to scan them for changes at startup.
The free version you have to rescan all files changes into the library unless you make the changes within MM itself.
To speed up the scan, you can set some options > Library:
- disable analyse tracks for duplicates
- ignore shorter than ## size or length
- enable update track info from tags when rescanning files + Only for files with changed timestamp or size.
- Or you can disable the option to update tracks info from rescanning completely. This will only update file paths and add new files (as far as I know).
Personally, I have MM gold and run with all of the library options enabled (all checked) and it only takes a minute or 2 scan through ~100 gigs depending on how busy my computer is.
