Are you sure that WSAPI output do not give you enough quality?

What exact Sound Card you have?

I don't know why, nothing was playing in the background, nor any programs actively using the audio output. I've tried many ways but it wouldn't get it active.

Anyone knows how?

A-ha! I was experimenting with this today. The difference between WinAmp and MediaMonkey was the "gapless mode" setting: if gapless is turned on, the plugin remains loaded after each track, so the music can flow directly from one track to the next. That means that when the player has stopped, the plugin is still not released and the ASIO4ALL icon shows as a Pause symbol.

This still isn't perfect. There's a slight hiccup in the sound on transition points which aren't silent (such as between "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse" on [i]Dark Side of the Moon[/i]).

There are two ASIO plugins available: "ASIO Output Plugin" [out_asio.dll] and "ASIO output (dll version)" [out_asio(dll).dll]
The former has a minimal configuration dialog which just lets you select the ASIO driver (e.g. ASIO4ALL), and this has gapless mode turned on. The latter has a configuration dialog with a number of options, one of which controls gapless mode.

I've noticed lately, with WinAmp 5 (I recently upgraded from ver 2) that playback through ASIO4ALL gets slight glitches when I do things like minimize or restore a window. MediaMonkey has no such problem.

I have the same problem, gaps between tracks makes the combination MM & ASIO totally useless. I added to the Wiki page. Posted a note to the MM team long ago, to no avail. I also checked the Ploytec ASIO + USB option in stead of ASIO4ALL, same result. So it appears that the plugins are the problem.

Any updates on this (last post is Sep 08)?

I'm using the Otachan ASIO plugin (ver 0.67). It seems to work fine, but even with the gapless playback option selected under the plugin configuration options, there is still a small (less than a second) gap between tracks.

Anyone know how to get true ASIO gapless playback, or if there is a better plugin which I should be using?

I can get ASIO with Foobar. But when I try it with Media Monkey, Media Monkey instantly crashes the moment I try to play a song. Hardware is M-Audio Audiophile USB.

Gapless is a combination of in and out. Asio in general only have one setting for gapless. Directout can be manipulated a bit for gapless support, relatively regardless of in plugin.

However ASIO the way I know it, having used it with a EMU sound card for quite awhile, is sensitive to what in plugin you use, so no, not off topic.

I've heard some describe Otachans's plugin as crips, and MAD as round, and concluded that some like the natural MAD, and some like the cripsness of Otachans's plug-in. I have yet to see if this actually is a fact or just a 'i think so thingy'. Have you tried it yourself?
