until then ill have to import to itunes and then just use the media monitor.
considering mm 3 is still in alpha testing it wont be out for some time.

just best to use the old auto orgnaize feature on the tools menu bar. which is the one that requires you to have already
scanned your songs in to the library before it can move them.

How do i tell mediamonkey where my music collection is stored because i have it on an external usb drive? With the scanning it only adds it into mediamonkey but it doesnt move or copy the file itself or am i missing something?
yes you are missing something but the others have told you as i have told you.

" Auto Organize "

it allows you to type in the local url of where you want your songs stored at.
and it will move them there.

I think in itunes its called consolidate library.
No, Mediamonkey does not have that type of feature.

Once you've added the songs to your library (no matter where they are located), you can use Auto-Organize to rename/move/organize the songs according to your specifications (e.g. in the main Music folder on your c: drive, with one folder for each artist, and in the artist folder one subfolder per artist's album, while artist's singles are all stored in the artist's folder).

no monkey has a better way.

you just use file. add/rescan link then you get a pop up scan panel you pick the locations you want to scan and the file types you want to scan for.
then you press okay. they are all added to the libray.
then you use the feature
called auto organizer.

you select all the songs in your library and use that to move them to where you want them.

or in the paid for version you get file monitor that does the above for you.

Does mediamonkey have a feature where you can drag a file into the mediamonkey window (like in itunes) and have it automatically be added to the library and copied to the appropriate folder like music/artist/album/song.mp3?
I think in itunes its called consolidate library.
