I don't think there is any way to in general insert a single song into the library, except for e.g. editing it in Now Playing, which is probably a bug. If you can put it in a folder by itself, you can Add/Rescan that folder.
There is one easy way. Drag and drop the song on the "Library" node in the media tree panel.
It will add it to the library.
You can also do that with a selection of several files.

Ah, different problem then. Soyry I cannot help.

Noted - thanks.

Good question, I think that the devices generate that themselves.

Me too.

> .alb files are always 0 bytes however

Same here. Though I assume that is just the wayther are reported, i.e. the real files contains more.

Who generates the .alb files. MM or the Zen itself?
Good question, I think that the devices generate that themselves. .alb files are always 0 bytes however, I could see the same 0 byte files on my Zune and I don't even use MM to sync to that.

I just realized that I can copy the whole wmlog.txt from the wmlog-Window to a textfile (the save button only copies a section of it like written in the message before. So now I have the complete file. But what can I do to find out whats wrong with my album art?

This is an entry of such a song which should have an album art, but does not have one:

Code: Select all

    Jackson Browne
      WMDM/FormatCode = 12289
      WMDM/Title = Jackson Browne
      WMDM/PersistentUniqueID = {00028947-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
      WMDM/FileSize
      WMDM/FileName = Jackson Browne
      WMDM/NonConsumable
      WPD/PassthroughPropertyValues (574)
...
Attrib: 48008 In The Shape Of A Heart.mp3
          WMDM/Bitrate = 0
          WMDM/Author = Jackson Browne
          WMDM/AudioBitDepth = 0
          WMDM/AudioWAVECodec = 0
          WMDM/FormatCode = 12297
          WMDM/Duration
WMDM/Title = In The Shape Of A Heart
          WMDM/UserRating = 0
          WMDM/Year = 1986
          WMDM/PersistentUniqueID = {00028B0B-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
          WMDM/SampleRate = 0
          WMDM/Genre = Pop
          WMDM/BuyNow
          WMDM/FileSize
          WMDM/Track = 3
WMDM/AlbumTitle = Lives In The Balance
          WMDM/FileName = In The Shape Of A Heart.mp3
          WMDM/NumChannels = 0
          WMDM/NonConsumable
          WMDM/PlayCount = 1
          WPD/PassthroughPropertyValues (1101)
          Attrib: 48020
After dragging this album to the Zen via MM the album arts shows up and there is a new entry in the wmlog file:

Code: Select all

Jackson Browne - Lives In The Balance.alb
          WMDM/AlbumCoverWidth = 0
          WMDM/AlbumCoverHeight = 0
          WMDM/AlbumCoverFormat = 14337
          WMDM/AlbumCoverData (10644)
          WMDM/FormatCode = 47619
WMDM/Title = Lives In The Balance
          WMDM/PersistentUniqueID = {00013E41-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
          WMDM/FileSize
          WMDM/AlbumCoverSize = 10644
          WMDM/FileName = Jackson Browne - Lives In The Balance.alb
          WMDM/NonConsumable
          WPD/PassthroughPropertyValues (928)
          Attrib: 48020
I also see the .alb file in the explorer, but it is a zero-length file. Is that normal?
Who generates the .alb files. MM or the Zen itself?

If you try the workaround (reformat ZEN and resync), do the two symptoms go?
No and yes. As I said before, the corrupt alphabetic list seems to be a one-time problem. It never happens again.

But the album art problem is appears on every sync, even if the Zen is freshly formatted. After dragging some songs to the Zen in MM they suddenly show their album art. So it seems it only happens via (auto)sync. Single file transfer seems to work fine.

WMlog scans all removable datastores connected via USB, e.g. Cardreader. I had an SD card in the reader with tons of music, and it scans it. So I removed the card and it shows an error "No media", but I can continue. Then it scans the Zen but after that tries to scan a device named "Nero Fast CD-DVD Burning Plugin" and crashes with an access violation. But I can save the log, anyway. But it seems the log is corrupted. It is interrupted at the beginning of the file list of the Zen inmidst a word, see the listing of the wmlog below.

So what else can I do to get my album arts. I could sync with another program like the ZEN Explorer, but that program cannot skip some albums or folders.

BTW.: A bit offtopic: What is the right way to insert a new song into the library? I copied it to my media folder using the explorer and then refresh the library, which takes some time. Is there a nicer way?

Re: Album Art not always showing on Zen V

I get your broken ZEN alphabetic list symptom in this case:

1248 Incremental auto-sync corrupts ZEN [#5833]
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=39965

and though I don't use album art, I expect this kind of corruption could cause your album art symptom.

If you try the workaround (reformat ZEN and resync), do the two symptoms go?

TMK WMlog.exe scans only the ZEN.

Album Art not always showing on Zen V

by Bluescreen2001 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 3:01 pm

Hi

I know, there are several Threads about this problem, but I found no solution now. Is there something new that I missed?
My problem:

I synced about 3300 songs to my Zen V. All went fine, but not all album arts shows up. Only very few are correct. All album art is embedded in the tags, but there are also lying some "folder.jpg" arround. I see no difference between working an non working arts. They sometimes even have the same resolution. An the effect is non deterministic. If I format the device an resync other arts are corrupt than before. Also if retransfer a corrupt song/album to the player using drag&drop within mediamonkey it suddenly shows up right.

I tried to use WMLog.exe but it crashing after reading tons of jpg-files. But I don't see where it gets them from? It seems it scans the harddrive, not the Zen.

I only have the songs on the Zen, no playlists, no pictures. I read that the Zen should generate .alb files for the art. I cannot find any? Where should they be?

I am very interested in a fix, so if I can help to diagnose the problem please contact me to tell me what I shall do.

BTW.: During all of my tests I once had a weird other effect. One song named "The King" shows up under "all Songs" between all the songs beginning with "D". So I could not use the alphabetic search function of the Zen. Selecting any letter higher than "D" jumps to "The King". Deleting an reinserting the song helps. And it was a onetime effect.

Thanks for your help
