Sorry my friend, but I hardly read your messages at all. Your English is worst ever that I read so far and I don't want to spend my time trying to understand what you want to say. You could say now what you want, but it was so obvious that you are trying to convince us how you are the only one right here and all of us are wrong.

its not my english its the online translators that are done by people that read and speak british english.
i use american english, and mix in slang, and type like i speak it with and with out pauses in it.

i know lowlander can understand what i typed and it was @ him. i was sending the remark you qouted.

seems like when i put the periods in places in my posts and don't do these one line messages. they get mis translated more.?? :-?

to let you know this is the line farther towards the bottom of the post that shows you what you were saying and lowlander said finally hit me. in mid thought of my typing this line.
if the track has not been played then the artist has not been played. oh sorry i've got absolutly TONS OF single one hit wonders.

:D

your last post there zvezdand is a good example of reading part of the message and getting mad over nothing.
so you might want to stop with the harsh tone. my hoss holds more then ya's and i'd win the pis...in match.

lowlander said it the way i could get it and i did.

Nobody is messing with you, you are simply wrong. Is it so hard for you to accept that? Several of us told you that, Lowlander even explained why you are wrong giving you examples and you still think how you are only right. If you want to see what is wanted, please install Magic Nodes add-on and add the following mask:

Code: Select all
All 2.5+ starred tracks from Album Artists that haven't played in last 30 days|Icon:Top level|Child of:Playlists|Position:Child|Filter:Songs.Rating >= 50 AND Songs.AlbumArtist NOT IN (SELECT AlbumArtist FROM Songs WHERE LastTimePlayed > (julianday('now', 'localtime', '-30 Days') - 2415018.5))\<Album artist|Sort order:Random|Show nodes:No>

There is no way that you could get the same set of tracks using auto-playlist. Please, stop doggedly suggesting something which is not requested.

is that little > the less then mark? :-? i thought it was the greater then mark? :(

but are you messing with me lowlander? the songs being picked by last played greater then 30 days
will only include songs that were played farther back 30 days or longer. so if the artist wanted to be played
is only wanted if they have not been played in 30 days or longer then the monkey will be able to play them.

if the complete works of the artist are wanted to be seen then as the rules i said above, that will not do it
because any song of that artist, which might have been played two days prioir will not show up.
however all their songs that have not been played in 30 days or longer Will show up.

so will every other artist, so if you want to use just one artist you need to sort them by artist, when the list is made
you need to then pick what you want to play and click play. auto start playing will not work for one artist in a multiple artist playlist. that has to be done by single artist playlists, so instead of all accessible files you would just use the artist name.

only thing that might beable to do single artist auto start playing in a multiple artist playlist is magic nodes or a script.
as said by others. but getting the data in a list either mulitple artist or single artist, can be done as i have done it the way i have said to

if the track has not been played then the artist has not been played. oh sorry i've got absolutly TONS OF single one hit wonders.

the artist with many songs can not be sorted out as not being played in auto lists only the tracks are able to be sorted out, like you said.

you could have? no that wont work either. just no way to sort as lowlander said by artist not played in set time. unless you have all one hit wonders.

No it won't achieve what is being looked for. They're not looking for tracks that haven't been played, what is being looked for is Artists that haven't been played (and show all tracks by that Artist).

Example
Artist A
- Track A1 (played within last 30 days)
- Track A2 (not played)
Artist B
- Track B1 (not played)
- Track B2 (not played)

The result should be tracks B1 and B2 only whereas your rules would include track A2, which shouldn't be included as the Artist has been played in the last 30 days.

i've been reading lowlander and checking out things.

yes you can get what you want in the auto playlist even though it is only done by the track.

set the playlist to find all songs accessible

set the playlist to find all songs last played >30 days.

set the playlist to find only songs of ratings 2.5 and 3 stars if that is what you want.

set the playlist to sort by ratings then sort by artist or possible that might be vicea versa.

that should give you all the songs not played in the last 30 days with the rating you wanted to show.
then sort them to the ratings and put all the artist in order.
:)
however there is one error i'm still getting in the auto playlists. it is impossible to add more then 3 rules for finding the songs.
:o

I think the issue is that no track of the Artist should have played in the last 30 days and that is not an available criteria in Auto-Playlist. You can only set that per track, not Artist.

Re: How to Automate Creating A Playlist (with vbs)

make a playlist for that one artist only.
set the time to get the last played for >30 days
set the sort to ratings z to a

it should show you all the songs by that artist that has not played in the last 30 days.
and sort the songs from lowest to highest rating. i think it puts the lowest in the bottom?
but if not then change the sort from ratings z to a back to ratings a to z

it should get what you asked for, sure you will get more then 2.5 stars in the list but you will get all the 2.5 star rated songs that have not played in the last 30 days that were sung or preformed by that one artist.

edited in .

i just remembered you can also set the number of rating stars in the list also. i've made a list to find only 4 to 5 star rated songs. it does not find any lower. :D

You are really headstrong, aren't you? OK, I have the gold version. Could you tell me how exactly I could get all 2.5+ starred songs by an artist that hasn't played in the last 30 days using just auto-playlists?

Re: How to Automate Creating A Playlist (with vbs)

Post by rovingcowboy » Fri May 28, 2010 1:36 pm

granted that you can't do much on the free version auto playlists.

but the gold version list does allow you to set the last played by hours or days. just click the menu arrow on the right of the text line.

i said minutes cause i use 60 minutes to mean an hour so i should have said hours. sorry for that but it will still work if you played mediamonkey for over an hour. which in most cases would be any number of songs from 1. to 58 depending on how long the songs were. of course 1 would be a concert.

and yes magic nodes will do more details or nitpicky settings then the advanced auto playlists but you can get by on using them it is just you have to adjust your wants a little bit. :D

Cowboy, please stop joking around and spreading misinformation. You know very well that this is not what MarquisEXB wanted and you know very well that auto-playlists are not almighty. There are many things that you cannot do with them, but you could do with SQL and Magic Nodes. ;)

I think that is not true.
You can create lots of different AutoPlaylists, but there is AFAIK no way to select the last played artists.

However there is a plugin called Magic Nodes which allows you to create your own SQL-Queries per Node... this might do exactly what you want.

it can pick the last played artist well not by the artist tag though. what you need to do is set the last played option to pick the songs last played in XX number of minutes. then it will show the last played songs. :D
