Sorry, just found about MediaMonkey 2 days ago and love. But I love this script even more! is there any plans on developing it further?

I have installed Media Monkey and Custom Report 3.2 on a new laptop and when I execute the Custom Report Script I am seeing this same error:
Error #70 - Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Permission denied
File: "E:\MediaMonkey\Scripts\CustomReport.vbs", Line: 3187, Column: 4
I read through the thread but must have overlooked the resolution. How was this resolved?

Thanks in Advance.

The report processed at about 10K titles per hour. Completed successfully... so all is good.
An Observation
At the final stage, it displayed a window about Xcel compatibility, with the prompt to "CONTINUE" . However, this window was behind main, and the banner bar/status in the main screen still showed the penultimate track being processed, Meaning, it sits there waiting for a user input but the user is unaware that input is required. Wasted 30 mins waiting, even though I had a Task window open that was showing MM using CPU... I didnt see the user prompt window.
When you finally realise and click on the 'Continue' button, THEN the status bar changes to show finished etc.... WRONG WAY AROUND !!!

Also frustrating that the XLS output has 65K limit. I got around this by re-running the report for the final records only. AFTER saving the initial output into XLSX which support more then 5K sheets.

Just some observation/feedback.

Custom Report Addon - performance question

by sullydks » Sun Mar 04, 2018 1:41 pm

Question about performance. First time user of this add-on. I was trying to get an extract of full library.
I have a straight listing report of 19 items. No sort, tums etc. to XLS.
Tested on selection of the library. All good.
Running full report but it seems to be taking about 1 hour per 7,000 tracks, Is this about right ?
I've restarted twice to reset everything. Reboot, etc.. But still same speed.
I've got 69000 in the collection (Mp3 and FLAC). That's almost 10 hours to run a report ? That's 1990's mainframe DB2 speed :-)
Surely I'm doing something wrong.
Ideas ?

This script has just today started returning the error "Excel not found" whenever I try to create a report. I haven't changed anything about the script at all; any ideas on how to fix this please?

Hi,

Custom Report 3.2. seems to be a very powerful tool and it offers nearly all that I was looking for.

However, is there a possibility to run it by "albumartist/album" only WITHOUT including "Titles" (I can not uncheck the box "includes") ?

http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4891 ... mz_jpg.htm

Edit: It would be very helpful if if there was a function like "Group by" e.g. "Albumartist" in order that only one line per album appears.

Ya, I can't find a way either, but at least I have a start, thanks much!

Not that I know of. Not easily anyway (maybe looking into the database; SQLite maybe, but format would likely inhibit listing out from being practical).

Are you downloading from CustomReport32.mmip?
The link is just under the script name.
Evidently I was on the wrong page/site/? as this link worked fine.

I'll try and figure it out now, but is there a way to just copy/paste the artists and album?
Thanks a bunch!

Bizarre. You're clicking the download link or save button to download and getting that?
Or, after download, you click on it to install and get that?

Are you downloading from CustomReport32.mmip?
The link is just under the script name.

From here

Can you provide a literal step-by-step description of what you are doing.

1. you download it.
2. ...and then what?

you need to click the OK Button
The OK button will close the window then compose the list if you look at the progress bar it will tell you, then it will ask if you want to open the file.
the SAVE button saves the dat file for recalling your settings

First Post - Cannot Save .xls or .xlsx Custom Reports

by edwardjc » Tue Dec 27, 2016 5:05 am

Hi Everybody,

I'm new to MediaMonkey for Windows and just learning my way around it. I really love the program and the features! I spent most of the weekend importing my music collection and tagging it.

Right now I'm burning my first CDs - almost 20 different audio CDs with a total of 300 tracks. I've entered detailed info for each track in MMW including composer name, original dates of compositions, conductors, recording dates, etc. (it's all classical music by many different orchestras and performers).

To type up all this info again in a document or spreadsheet in order to make the track list for each CD would take about 8 more hours, so I'm trying to avoid that. The Custom Reports 3.2 script I came across seems like it should be perfect to save all that time. I installed the script and it seems to be opening properly from File > Create Reports > Custom Reports.

The issue I'm having is, using the script for the first time today, I've been trying for over an hour to get it to save a report for the currently opened playlist using the file format I select. I've tried to save as .xls, .xlsx and .csv because I'm pretty sure any of these would work to load the report into Excel for quick editing. But every time I try, the report gets saved as a .dat file, and the file contains only parameters and no actual data from the tracks. I get the sense I'm supposed to be clicking a different button to save the actual report, not this .dat file, but I'm at a loss for where to find it.

This brief screencast demonstrates the issue (unlisted on YouTube)... Any advice based on what I'm doing in this screencast regarding the step or steps I'm missing in the process?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CH11oYCyx8Y

2 things I can think of that might be part of the problem:

1. I've left the "Format" column blank (because I don't have any specific parameters to put there and the raw unedited values will be fine for this purpose)

2. I've been getting an error message some of the time saying my file name might be longer than 32 characters or contain a disallowed character such as "/" ... Do I need to edit the file name field in the script window to change what is populated there by default? (In the final step of saving it, I've been using the file name "test1" which saves as "test1.dat")

Also, I'm trying to figure out whether to use ASCII or UTF-8 or 16 for encoding for Excel-format reports.

Really appreciate any help you can provide about this. Thanks a million!

Edward
