I've searched this forum, the Windows Home Server forums, and PS3 forums. I am not able to figure this one out.
The goal: From a PS3 have access to the songs in my MediaMonkey library all stored in FLAC on the Windows Home Server.
Setup: MM 4.0.1 and have Media Sharing configured per Help articles, formats are correct, Media Server is running, etc.
On WHS I disabled in the WHS Console settings Media Sharing for Music and Video, but not Photos. I thought maybe WHS and MM Server were perhaps stepping on each other.
Problem: PS3 does not see the MediaMonkey Media Server. The PS3 can actually see my Windows Home Server fine.
When I had Music and Video shared earlier the PS3 could see the WHS and could play music, but only tracks which had already been converted to WMA or MP3 format. Most of my music is lossless FLAC. In an attempt to get to my goal I shut off the Music and Video sharing so the WHS is still seen by PS3, but no longer can see those items. That is expected, but I cannot get the PS3 to see the MediaMonkey Media Server.
Troubleshooting: I have a laptop which runs Windows 7 64-bit and has MediaMonkey installed there. No music is actually stored locally on it, but I enabled the MM Server there just to see if the PS3 could see it, and the WHS sees the MM Server from Windows 7 just fine, and plays the tracks, albeit a little slow to get started, but that is due to the music actually residing on the WHS not the Windows 7 laptop. It works however.
I also had the third party PS3 Media Server installed on the WHS and thought maybe that too could be complicating matters and since it really didn't do what I wanted anyway I just uninstalled it and restarted everything, but I have same behavior.
I'm not sure if there is something more on the WHS that I have to turn on or maybe disable? I believe I have MM configured correctly, and as far as the PS3 goes, either it sees it or it doesn't. I have not found any setting in there relating to turning the DLNA Client On/Off or even configuring it.
Any advice welcome. Thank You.
