Scanning files:
You do not need to scan files on each start-up.
My setting: options / library / file monitor / (define folders to scan) scan continuously (but NOT on start-up!).
When you add new files MM has to be running, then all new files will be added to library.
I kept trying, in the end, I gave up and just left MM running in the background, it was more trouble than it was worth for now.

Unfortunately not, connection failed also....so there's more going on.

I did notice though when installed as a service and close the app, if you look at the task manager list.

THIS is what it shows in the background processes list (for some reason)

MediaMonkey (32 bit)
Mediamonkey64helper.exe
Mediamonkeyservice.exe (32 bit)

I don't know if it should be still be showing MediaMonkey (32 bit) there.

When re-running the app the media scanning for new media (mines set to re-scan on startup) takes AGES.

If I end task on the MediaMonkey (32 bit) the scanning for new media then works as quickly as usual.

@Wullail:
Yes, there seems to be something in it what you describe: on my MMA even both servers appear sometimes, when MMW closed and on service only.

But can you actually browse the content of the server when it appears with only the service running?
After some 1-2 min. of "connecting..." i get only: connection failed

I found a workaround, it may actually show what the issue may be.

I had the same issue, just as a test I set up a SECOND UPnP MediaMonkey server different name, different port.

I then installed the UPnP server as a service...

All of a sudden the FIRST UPnP MediaMonkey server appeared, even when the app wasn't loaded.

There was no sign of the SECOND in the UPnP server list.

Hi,
Can you please open support ticket and supply log file as described here viewtopic.php?f=20&t=69 so that I can analyze and see what to do next.

I had similar issue two days ago when I tried to setup WiFi sync on new phone, but after PC restart when I wanted to make logs it worked :(

@peke: Thanks, but still no success.

Port was at: 53951, changed to: 5000 & 6000.

When MMW started, under windows/services the MMservice is "stopped": now MMserver is visible on upnp.
When MMW closed, under windows/services the MMservice changes to "started/running": but MMserver does NOT appear.

Hi,
Can you try this?

1. Uninstall service
2. Make sure it is not listed under windows services
3. Make sure that MMW server is still seen when started
4. Restart Windows
5. Start MMW
6. Install service
7. Check if service is seen now
8. Restart Windows

if that do not help repeat all but as step 5a. Change MMW Server Port

Let us know the result.

Yes, options/leveling/level playback volume to: enabled.
But it does not seem to matter for the server issue, it remains the same, if enabled or not.

you can disable the verification to stop the window? Sorry, i do not understand. What do you mean?

Thanks.
On my PC i am the only 1 user logged in as admin, there are no others.

The VLC media player on my PC is a dlna client and it behaves the same way under its upnp sources:
- MMW startet: MM server and its shared content visible
- MMW closed: MM server disappears and does not reappear (but as said above: under task manager "MMservice.exe + MM (32bit)" are still there

But the internal windows 10 media server is always visible on my PC and on android.

Did you install the Service as the same Windows User MM itself is running as? The Service uses the MM settings, thus it needs to run as the same Windows User to use your Media Server settings.

Do you have a DLNA client on the same PC to check if it sees the MediaMonkey Server (maybe Firewall is blocking Service)?

SERVICE installed, but not working

win10-64bit 1803, windows firewall deaktivated, no other firewall runnig.
MMW 4.2.21.1875
MM service installed without errors.

I boot my PC, under task manager 2 "background processes" are started:
MMservice.exe
MM (32 bit)

But in MMA/upnp and bubbleupnp no MM server appears.

As soon as i start MMW, "MM server" appears in both MMA & bubbleupnp.

When i close MMW, "MM server" disappears and does not reappear even after a longer time of serveral minutes, not in MMA and not in BubbleUpnp. Also restarting MMA/bubbleupnp does not solve that.
---
What's strange: in both bubbleupnp and MMA the "MMW player" on the PC appears as a renderer when i want to cast a song. Which of course cannot be played because MM on the PC is not running.
