Yes this issue should have been fixed as of build 166.

As an update, a complete uninstall of MMA (with manual deletion of folders on both the internal storage and on the external card), reinstall, and resync results in joy.

Update: Tried to do another USB sync this evening. MMW told me that I didn't have enough space, so it's like MMW doesn't know to manage the music that it put on the Droid last night. Fortunately thought ahead and debugged MMW and just submitted a ticket (WSR-833391) and send in the MMA logs. Fingers crossed!

I am having this problem now using MMA 167 and MMW 1661 on a Droid Razr M.

Starting with a newly-formatted SD card, I used MMW to transfer 3001 songs and 9 playlists to the droid via USB. After unplugging, I triggered a media store rescan* and after that completed checked the app Playlist Backup. All playlists were visible in that app. I selected one playlist and was able to see the list of songs underneath it. So far so good. I then launched MMA. Its scan took about an hour, but after that hour I checked and the playlists were not there. I believe, but am not sure, that I also checked tracks, albums, and artists and saw things there (I was running off to work and my not have checked completely or carefully). I am certain that I re-checked Playlist Backup and found that the playlists were gone from there too.

Three hours later, I have listings under albums but they are empty (the album titles are all ok, as are the album artists and most of the album art). I have nothing under tracks, genres, composers, etc., and of course the playlists are still empty.

The stock music player sees all of the music, as does WinAmp. However, WinAmp does not see the playlists. The album art that is missing in MMA is displayed correctly in both the stock player and WinAmp.

I suppose that my next step is to resync when I get home and see what happens. Any other thoughts on what I might try?

Jeff

* For some reason, I always have to do this manually after a USB sync. When I wireless sync the media scanner runs automatically.

I seem to remember it happening a couple of times in early August. Then it went away after an update and then came back a couple of weeks ago when I started using using the script in MMW. I think it's been three or four days since it last happened. I'm sorry I can't be more specific. There doesn't seem to be anything specific that triggers it. I'll just open up MMA and the playlist will gone but the tracks will still be there.

Heronheart,

Would you say (like ppkdewey) that this issue only started happening sometime in August?

Also, is it only the playlists that disappear? i.e. the content that is within the playlists remains accessible via the Tracks view?

Thanks.

Yes, I had this happen a few days ago on build 165. It should be noted that I am using the script for MMW that allows a playlist to automatically include all the songs from all it's child playlists. I'm using Android 2.3.5 on a Motorola Photon with music stored on a 16 gig ext SD card.

I have a number of playlists which are contained within one playlist node. They sync fine to MMA via WiFi but after a certain period of time they disappear. The tracks remain but the playlists disappear. This happens randomly and without a phone restart. Running the the latest version of Gingerbread on a Motorola Photon. Also the latest versions of MMA and MMW.

This seems to be the same problem as discussed in another thread (http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 21&t=72079) that I am still experiencing.

I think it started when my Galaxy S 2 was upgraded to Android 4.1.2. At some point in the past, my MMA playlists didn't disappear like this. Whereas now, they disappear every time the phone is restarted.

One bit of further info for the devs is that only the MM created/synced playlists are disappearing :o - I created a playlist using the stock Android music app and that remains after a phone restart, and is seen by MMA :-?
Also to make it clear this particular problem has only occurred with this latest build -previous builds seem to have been OK

My guess is that MMA isn't rescanning the media store, and this is what is causing this particular behavior - right after restoring the playlists, are you seeing the little spinning wheel in MMA indicating that it is checking? (Actually, it would be great if MMA had a mechanism that would allow users to trigger a rescan).

Still, a mystery is what is causing the playlists to get deleted in the first place. If you hunt around these forums you'll see scattered reports of this happening, but I've also seen it on the PlayerPro forum, so it may not be MMA (in fact, if you search on "droid playlist disappear" lots of stuff comes up). Next time this happens, it might be worth using Playlist Backup to force a media scan. If that doesn't work, it might be worth unmounting and remounting the SD card.

One other tip is that I also use iSyncr, which very nicely has a setting that will allow you to see when the Android media scanner is running.

Installed playlist backup as suggested - it would appear that when the monkey can see the playlists, so can playlist backup (under system playlists).
On phone restart neither MM or playlist backup can find them so they are definitely being deleted :(

A suggestion to help diagnose this is to install the free app Playlist Backup, which among other things will let you see what the droid's media store sees. When I've had playlist problems, it has been really helpful to know what the media store thinks is there vs. what MMA thinks. Almost always, they are in agreement, so I'm guessing that if you lose playlists in MMA if you check using Playlist Backup they won't be there either.

Good luck!

Using 0156 build with MM 1652
I noticed that on the recent upgrade that all of my playlists had disappeared.
The associated tracks however were still on the phone.
So I did a wifi sync and the playlists were downloaded ok
Next day the playlists had disappeared again :-?
Synced again - playlists downloaded again.
After testing it seems that the playlists are being deleted after a phone restart. :(
