Thank you for your help. I managed to figure out how to select individual Albums in the Device Profile.

You can either select individual Albums in the Device Profile or add the Albums in question to a regular Playlist and sync that Playlist to your device.

OK, thank you. So, I want to somehow designate maybe 50 albums (not individual songs) to be Synced with my phone. How do I do that?

One thing I thought of is maybe I could take portable hard drive, and manually copy the albums that I want onto that, and then somehow just sync that to the phone? Or just copy them to the phone using Windows and then let Media Monkey catalog and access them once they are copied to the phone?

You can't remove files from Collections. Collections (and AutoPlaylists) are Criteria based (not file based) so if a file matches the Collection Criteria it will be in that Collection. The only option is to either modify the Criteria to exclude files, modify the files tags so it doesn't match the Criteria, or use a regular Playlists from which you can add/remove individual files.

I feel like I could have written Mikey 1969's post. I am trying to do the same thing. New phone, installed Media Monkey Pro on it, and I am running MM Gold on Windows 10. I have too much music to put it all on my phone, so I need to Synch only selected music. So I made a "Collection" called "Phone Collection". As I understand it, I need to delete the things I don't want in that collection. BUT, when I right click on an album that I don't want on the phone, I get scary choices when I select "Remove". "Are you sure you want to delete these 16 tracks? Delete from Library Only OR Delete from Library and Computer". I just want them out of this collection, not out of my life altogether.

Can anyone help?

Awesome(Again)! And thanks for all of the help(again)!

I think I'm good now until I start making "Collections". Hopefully, I'll figure that one out myself.

Once again, thank you very much for this help. :D

1) Depends, if the new files meet the criteria of your sync selection they'll be automatically included. For example if you sync a Collection or AutoPlaylist and the new files match the Criteria for those, they'll be included on the next sync.

2) You manage everything from MMW, that includes the Device Profile and sync selection (this can be done for MMA syncs as well). Then when the device is connected you initiate sync from MMW (instead of MMA for wifi Android sync).

Awesome!! Found it! Thank you SOOOOOO much. That was really the last key to the puzzle.

So two followup questions:
1. As I add new music to my computer in MMW, is it automatically added to the 'Sync' list, or do I need to go in to the Sync list and enable any new albums? What if it's something new by an existing artist? If there's a setting to make it automatic, that would be easier, because then I'd just have to remember to disable anything new that was for my wife or daughter, some thing there is far less of. :-)

2. For my daughter's iPod, do I just set up an auto sync list for her, and then hit the 'Sync' icon next to the device itself, as opposed to syncing from the device like i would with my Android phone? I assume that't the way it works, just want to make sure.

I plan on buying MM Gold a few weeks down the road, so hopefully having "Collections" makes this easier.

See: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... oid_device

You'll need to select what you want synced in the Device Profile (Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync in MMW). You can't select what not to sync. So you can either create a Collection or AutoPlaylist that excludes what you don't want synced (based on Criteria) and then select that Collection or AutoPlaylist to be synced.

Once you've set what is to be synced it will remove anything from device that isn't on the sync list and add anything to the device that is on the sync list and not on the device already. As Collections and AutoPlaylists are Criteria based they will automatically update on each sync.

Oops...

Forgot a very important followup.

Once i figure all of this out, I want to wipe my music off of my phone and totally re-sync clean, or at least delete the stuff I don't want. What's the best way to do this? If I just manually delete(On the phone) the albums that I don't want, will they just stay off my phone on the next sync, or is it better to completely uninstall MM on the phone, reinstall and re-configure the sync, and then re-sync?

"Auto sync list"? How do I make this?

by Mikey1969 » Fri Feb 16, 2018 1:15 pm

OK, so after weeks of trial and error, I think I have my phone ready to sync, except that right now it is syncing everything. I have about 3 GB of music for my wife and daughter that I don't want on my phone. SO it syncs anyway, I delete it, and it reappears on the next sync. I see something on the documentation regarding "Auto sync lists", and then nothing else. How do I set it to sync with my phone correctly?

And as a followup, is there a way to set something in MM to ask on new media if I want to sync it or not?

I know I'm close, but the documentation I'm finding doesn't seem to really cover this part.

Basically, what I want for my phone is:
Sync everything, except the stuff I don't want. I can either manually flag things I don't want every time I add new music, or set something up that does it automatically if that exists.

Sync stuff top my daughter's iPod, but not give her everything I have, while still giving her the stuff I have especially for her.

Do the same as my daughter for my wife.

It seems that I could/would want to create some kind of a profile for each device, but I'm really not sure how to create a profile or an 'auto sync list'. This seems to be the last hurdle. I have my phone set up for WiFi sync, but I'm assuming that for the two iPods for my wife and daughter, I would have to sync wiuth them plugged in to the computer, which is not an issue in any way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
