hiya guys,

thought i'd contribute an update should it be helpful.

tried both peerguard & peerblock today - they both do the same things btguard did to my file downloads and every thing is all over the shop. file contents are mish-mashed with like between the chipmunks to dolly parton despite attempting to download something totally outside of these genres i will give up trying.

Did you ask yourself how so many users have 50,000+ tracks on their computers? No doubt they didn't bought them all...

Search the forum for "35K" or "50K"...

eyal there are a few users with 100K song librarys that use mediamonkey. 8)

I've used the free PeerGuardian in the past without issue: http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

hi eyal

thanks for the reality check, heheh.

am still keen on reading about the experiences of other monkey users who use / have used btguard or any similar 'product' too.

cheers

g'day everyone : )

hope this post is in the right category.

well i just had to, didn't i? i just couldn't be satisfied with the status quo of performance bliss i was getting from my monkey, so i tried btguard, considering it to be a better option than jail. signed up for 12 months right away - and still waiting for my refund request, given it's still monday evening here in oz.

anyway, as soon as i installed btguard and configured it with uTorrent - which i've been using since day 1, ALL my downloads got totally F'd up. every downloaded file in every folder was a mish-mash of audio files and not one complete file nor folder can be used - hence i wasted almost 10gb of my monthly quota.

but voila! as soon as i uninstalled btguard, and re-downloaded the same files, my sanity has been restored.

so ... what happened? has anyone had the same experience?

cheers
