Hi,

I was not looking in the wrong .ini (check timestamp). I discovered while using the debug version that MM was opening a local and Roaming file. Looking into the ini I discovered two [System] tags. I wonder where the second one is come from? After removing the DBName problem is fixed. Minor issue is that MM is still creating a empty mm dir in ../local. I don't know why.

Status
- Type changed into Extension => Not fixed but accepted
- Tracks missing => 4.0.2 rows checked with filesystem No error 3.2.5 hast extra ghost records No error
- DBName not working => There were 2 [System] tags in the .ini. Reason unknown Fixed
- Wav files not scanned properly => Workaround convert old database and do not scan from empty file

I will use this 4.0.2 a month on a testsystem. When still OK all my computers will get a upgrade to 4.0.2

Last update.
When I log in as a differnet user (running Windows 64 Ultimate in a server env) I get a popup about Error Executing SQL statement ... : attempt to write a readonley database (8,). Solution run as Administrator is for me not an option.

In that case you might be looking in the wrong ini file. Try:
- Open MediaMonkey
- Change something in the options like Cache dir (Tools > Options > General)
- Close MediaMonkey
- Search PC for MediaMonkey.ini (including hidden and OS files)
- Open the ini that was last updated (time should be of MM close)
That should give you the correct ini.

Only one [System]
And same line as in my 3.2.5 (saved) ini. Still figuring out why it won't work
Here is a part of my ini file. Even if I change othere parameters like tempdir.
The lines are not carried out

[System]
JustInstalled=0
IniVersion=107
FilterActivated=0
ActiveFilterID=0
LockCoverWindowAspectRatio=1
CurrentAspectRatio=1.37759336099585
WinampPath=C:\Program Files\WinAmp\WinAmp.exe
DBName=\\ARTHUR\Data\Data\MediaMonkey\Music.DB
TempDir=C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Local\Temp\
CacheDir=C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey\VirtualCD\
PreviewDir=C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey\Previews\

Make sure you edit the ini when MediaMonkey is closed and that the DBNAME entry is added under the [System] section. You might want to check that you don't have multiple [System] sections in the ini.

Update on the last post (excuse for username?).
I checked th no of files by counting *.wav, *.mp3 and the no records in the database.
In 4.0.2 the files match exact the no of records. In 3.2.5 there is somewhere a problem.
So this one is fixed

Update about my investigations sofar...
- I noticed Type has changed into Extension. I made new rules using Extension and they work fine now. => Status FIXED- I'm still figuring out why there ae still 100 tracks missing on the total of +/- 32.000. Status FURTHER INVESTIGATION Now I have the same no of songs 32.226 as when I scanned.
I checked the 3.2.5 DB for broken links and did a Full DB maintanance. still 32.318 row :(
I'm looking for a method how to check.
- DBName option doesn't work (add DBName=\\ARTHUR\Data\Data\MediaMonkey\Music.DB in the USER\Roaming ini file) => Status NEW I see that a new local empty DB is made and the
- When I started with a empty DB my WAV tracks where not added properly. => Status FIXED (Accepted) Using a local copy form my 3.2.5 DB converted all songs including artist name etc.
I still didn'figure out why MM doesn't read the WAV info prpoerly 3.2.5 does it OK

So If yoy are using an Windows server env with more clients it takes extra time to convert to 4.x.
As long as my problems are not solved properly I will not roll out 4.x on my environment

1) Due to underlying changes not all settings can't be converted. Filters should be available under Tools > Options > Media Tree as Collections. Are you saying that MM3's Type wasn't changed to MM4's Extension rule after conversion?

2) Probably in another Collection. Only the Entire Library Collection shows all files: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

3) WAV files have poor tagging support by nature: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... erties/4.0 If you don't see tags they may not have been saved to the files or the option to Infer Properties under Tools > Options > Library is interfering (I prefer to leave it disabled). This means that if you use the Library > Files to Edit > Unsynchronized Tags node that the files would show. I would suggest copying the MM3 DB to the MM4 DB location and start MM to convert it to a MM4 DB. This way all the tags would be in the DB.

Conversion from MM 3.2.5 to 4.0.2 not OK

I'm using the Gold version (lifetime) for some years now. But when updating from 3 to 4 I discoverd some odd behavior

1. Not all settings in 3 are converted to 4. For example my filters on Type are no longer there. I discoverd Type has changed to Extension and via Add new collection I could add new filters.
2. I'm using a central database mm.db with 32.500 songs (mp3, flac, wav, wma) on a win2003R2 server. For safety reasons conversion was done with a local mm.db and an fresh search from \\ARTHUR\Data\Music. I'm still missing more then 100 songs. I cannot find them. :( . Any clou how to find the missing songs or is the something else wrong? rebuilding on 3.2.5 in a local db can find them all.
3. After scanning all the tags from my wav files are misformed, no titeles, artist, years sometimes missing etc.
In 3.2.5 all tags ar okay and visible when opening the file. What is happening?

At this moment I wil be using 3.2.5 for a while until above issues are cleared
