I know very little about x64 systems so the current discussion might not apply to you, I believe that someone else had a problem with x64 Vista and the Micro Player not showing up.

MediaMonkey3 Beta2 is missing deskplayer.temp.dll, if you do not wish to trust my file there is one, possibly two, options you could take:
  • 1). Uninstall Beta2, Download and Install Beta1 then Download and Install Beta2 over it. -- Beta1 has the file.

    2). I've noticed that "deskplayer.dll" and "deskplayer.temp.dll" are both the same size. Maybe they are the same file MM3Beta is looking for "deskplayer.temp.dll" instead of the non-".temp." version. If they are indeed the same file, you should be able to make a copy of "deskplayer.dll" and rename it to "deskplayer.temp.dll"

and yea no mediamonkey player option in toolbars, and will submit error report. thanks.

Just to make sure there's nothing being mis-communicated...
This is what you're doing to enable the Micro Player under your 64bit Windows Vista:

Monster not included.

If so, then submit an Error Report by pressing and holding: Right CTRL + Left SHIFT + TAB

Just say something like "64bit Vista + MM3 Beta2: Micro Player not showing"

how do i send a bug report, ill be glad to do it.

by rovingcowboy » Thu Sep 13, 2007 5:23 pm

you need to send a bug report in to the developers
window vista is just getting support in mm 3. so there are going
to be bugs that you vista users need to send in to get fixed.

theres nothing anyone can do with that except the developers.
sorry.
:(

Thanks for posting that. Strangest thing though, I downloaded the file and moved it to the MM3 directory where I was told that I already had the file in my directory! I moved and replaced the old .dll, and now the microplayer is working. Very strange indeed... thanks for posting the file though!

That worked.. the 'clean install' version now has a Micro Player
Okay. I don't have a copy of the .dll but its not a big deal, I can wait until the next release comes out for it to be fixed. Just wanted to make sure someone knew about it so it would be fixed for next time :wink:

Yes, as I mentioned I had this working for Beta 1. On a clean install of B2, the microplayer will not show up.

Have you enabled "MediaMonkey Player" in toolbars menu ?

by TwiztidSinz » Thu Sep 13, 2007 12:41 am

"MediaMonkey3" = UPGRADE folder
"MediaMonkey3beta" = CLEAN INSTALL folder

After looking through the folders, I found 5 files missing from the clean install:
--------------------------------------------------
\DeskPlayer.temp.dll

\Locale\de\LC_MESSAGES\context.mo

\Plugins\AudioScrobbler.log.txt [Last.FM]
\Plugins\gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll [Last.FM]
\Plugins\musepack.ini
--------------------------------------------------

Detailed output of files (from Cdrom List Creator):
B1 -> B2 Upgrade: http://www.TwiztidSinz.com/mediamonkey3/mm3_upgrade.txt
B2 Clean Install : http://www.TwiztidSinz.com/mediamonkey3/mm3_clean.txt

I also noticed that Cdrom List Creator found 6 extra entries in the Upgrade folder. According to Windows Explorer there should be only 5 Files and 0 Folders different. I have not fully gone though the list to find the 'extra' yet.

[Edit]:
Found the 'extra' file.

Code: Select all

Volume name is
Directory of C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey3

Morten's WMP11 skin isn't showing up in Windows Explorer and wasn't copied over when I copied the Skins folder to the 'clean' install to balance the skins out.

just a really simpile idea?

but you that have both versions of install's do you use

different computers to check that on?
if so then check the files in the clean install and compair with the overinstall.

see what file if any is missing.
