That's not that large.

I suggest running debug, and only do the scan. When this fails send the generated debug log to support. You may have a corrupted file or a tag that causes DB issues.

Deleted MM db and ini... will start it again and rescan entire database...

Checked - no problem with hard drive (checkIt pro, smartdrive) and no problems with ANY other program.

At this very moment, MM is showing busy icon... can't do anything else while busy trying to tag from web.

Is there a problem with large databases? just under 8,500 MP3s.

That could indicate that your hard drive is failing. It would explain why you're seeing these unexpected issues. A debug log as suggested before may provide more details.

OMG! There was a problem querying the database:
Error executing SQL statement "DELETE FROM Albums WHERE ID in (3045) AND Tracks=0": disk I/O error (10,10)

It's widespread - systematic.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled, and created a new database...

I'm lost for words...

Ok it added all the sound files to the library.

Now I tried the next step, Autotag from filename... ERROR

Error executing SQL statement "COMMIT" : SQL logic error or missing database (1,1)

WOW! This is exhausting using MM... It is starting to feel like the only way to be able to use the program is if you are the programmer that knows its intricacies.

Now I'm trying to Tag from the Web... dunno what it's doing if anything, as all it's doing is giving me the BUSY icon... nothing else. And if I click anywhere on the program I get the greyed out version and the message, "MediaMonkey (Not Responding)... ARGH!!!!!

I think it should still be in BETA...

Running on Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit, Intel duo core, 4GB RAM, plenty of HDD storage, no other (non system) programs running... Anyway, it's not my system as this isn't something I come across with any other program. Besides, I don't want to waste time troubleshooting a program, I just want it to work right.

Do you happen to have a NEWER version that may work?

I uninstalled MM and then installed it again.

It is presently scanning to add files to the DB. It's up to about 6,500 and still going.

For some reason it has made 4x 'Entire Library' tabs at the top... dunno why, as I didn't click on anything other than 'File - Add/Rescan'...

Oh well, fingers crossed and hoping it will complete.

This will not tell you when duplicate files are being added to the Library. Instead it will show them in the Files to Edit > Duplicate Content node in the Media Tree.

Try again with a brand new database, but delete MM.DB this time: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=17

Then make sure you follow instructions 4b to create a debug log while starting the scan. If it fails to import again, send the log to support. There is a good chance you have a corrupted file causing the scan issue: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

I have the latest editinon of MM.

As it didn't seem to add all of my music to the Entire Library, I deleted the database, and started from scratch.

Second time around with a brand new database, the scanning stopped at just 1500 or so songs, but there are well over 10,000 song in the directory I scanned.

So I double-checked, and told it to scan again... and it seemed to add some more, but crapped out again with an error, "problem querying the database"

All the boxes are checked, and I am "problem querying the database"...Error executing SQL statement, "Insert Into..."...

I had told it to inform me of duplicate songs, but right in front of my eyes I saw it add two of the same song - same artist without any notice or popup...

Just this instant, when I switched screens back to MM, there were 2x more of the same similar error on my screen...

What's going on, and how do I fix this?

If it can't be fixed, is there another program that will do the same thing? I really don't have time for buggy software...

That's explained in the link I posted: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

You can use the Entire Library Collection or modify/create any other Collection (Gold Feature). For example you can modify the Music Collection to include the Type = Classical Music rule.

You already have it :-? Its called "Entire Library" (File/Manage Collections - Tick the relevant box to make visible)

Yes, they were there. I think MM4 has generated lots of UI problems. Classical music, or any other collection should be subset of the "all music" tree. From the user's perspective, used to MM3.0, the "Music" node was the tree where you'll find all your song, regardless if they are classical or other genres.

As a suggestion, we should have a higher node indicating that that tree will display them all. And "music" and "classical music" would be under this node. We need a view to show all.

BTW, what makes MM4 to scan and send it to Classical Music? Is the genre tag?

Did you check other Collections like Classical Music. Most often this is where files that users don't think got scanned are added. Entire Library > Location is the best way to verify files really weren't added: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _Rules/4.0

Corruption can still be an issue as scanning reads tags whereas playback plays audio.

Thanks for the post link.

This is not my issue, although it was helpful. Some mp3 files are not being scanned at all. First I noticed that some folders were not showing up in the tree. Tried to re scan only that folder and didn't work. Then I copied pasted an mp3 file that was already scanned (and showing) in MM and then scanned again. Only the pasted mp3 file was scanned. Renamed the files and same thing, didn't show up. Got rid of the id tags and nothing.

Now, you can say the mp3 is corrupted. When I play this file using Open URL/File, I was able to play.

I'm back again on MM3.xx and guess what. It does scan the files mentioned above.

Worst thing in an application that handles tons of files is the lost of confidence that what you see is what you have. MM4 doesn't give you that.
