Using 4.0.5.1488 I have no issue with iPod Touch or iPod Nano when it comes to music syncing.

1-4) Works as expected
5) You already discussed that: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=65797

Hey Lowlander, thanks alot for all the help and suggestions. I tried all of these things you suggested, checked all my Itunes and MM settings, even rebuilt database with MM every which way, reset and cleared Ipod, also removed or rescanned any dead links etc, checked and tried all input and output options etc, updated and resynced several times with MM 4, but my (5th Gen Ipod nano) which was working great, until synced with MM 4.
Ipod still freezes or skips over many many tracks in my playlists. So even after contacting MM Support several times the last month or so, and even sending in MM Debug Log to them etc, but still, hardly any real answers or solutions from them at all. So it is apparent that Media Monkey or MM 4 is not yet fully compatible with latest Ipods etc, still a few devastating Bugs that MM Developers must fix, hopefully by the next MM Release.

Unfortunately, my Media Monkey online membership Reviews with Cnet, Softpedia and others etc, will have to agree with others, that there are just too many bugs, even in MM 4 still, especially with Ipods 5th Gen and up, and cannot recommend anyone leaving their dreaded Itunes just yet for all these Ipod sync problems and headaches. Nor can I recommend anyone purchasing MM Gold, in which I would gladly Pay, if MM Developers could fix or address all these issues, until then , just no way.

In addition to the constant freezes or skipping over many many tracks in my playlists, these are some addtl issues with Media Monkey 4:
1. The Level playback does not work well at all, with my Mp3 volumes still all over the place. Many mp3 songs volumes play much lower than others.
2. My song Times and duration, still does not show on all songs, only a few.
3. Playlists total songs and times, at bottom in MM inconsistent, so many times I have no idea how long my playlist really is.
4. Sometimes songs will play fine, sometimes they will play garbled or with a short very loud static noise, along with pauses or freezing.
5. The Auto DJ Feature , which was one of the main reasons wanted to switch to MM, is so limited, you can only use while playing on PC, will not let you take a playlist and have MM beat/tempo match songs, and save as a playlist to Ipod or MP3 Player. So still have to pay or use another program to do this very important feature for parties etc.

I believe that hardware acceleration can be an issue in rare cases (http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=90). Make sure your files have been volume analyzed as well (for Level Playback Volume to do its job).

Ok, will try Sound max, and yes, I have always had Level playback enabled. What about the below ?

Also, I have enabled crossfade and also enabled Fade in new track. Not sure on these below, they all sound like they are good to have, but if any could be causing problems, should I keep all these below enabled as before? Also after I make these changes, do I need to Remove all my playlists on Ipods and reload? Or Rebuild entire database maybe?
1. Hardware acceleration
2.Remove silence
3.Smooth Pause
4.Smooth Seek
5. Smooth Stop

Sound Max

Also try switching Play > Level Playback Volume on.

Ok,I see, I will try MM Direct Sound output plugin again, for my WIN XP on DELL PC, Out of these 2 options I have,Do you recommend I use Sound Max or Primary sound Driver?

Also, I have enabled crossfade and also enabled Fade in new track. Not sure on these below, they all sound like they are good to have, but if any could be causing problems, should I keep all these below enabled as before? Also after I make these changes, do I need to Remove all my playlists on Ipods and reload? Or Rebuild entire database maybe? Thanks for your help man, I am so hoping these solutions will get me full playback control of my MM music again!

1. Hardware acceleration
2.Remove silence
3.Smooth Pause
4.Smooth Seek
5. Smooth Stop

Because it doesn't support it. DirectSound works fine for me and you may have to choose the correct Audio Device within the plugins settings. WASAPI is only available for Windows Vista and up.

Oh I see, but why would that output not be able to support this basic Crossfade Feature in MM 4?

Any idea why I have so many playback problems with the other MM Direct Sound output plugin? I would even try the MM WASAPI Output plugin, but it is always grayed out for some reason.Thks!!!

I don't think WaveOut can crossfade.

Sorry, Let me clarify. They still skip mostly on my ipods in playlists, also still occasionally in MM player, But I do not use MM player that much to listen to my songs, mostly use to set up and sync my playlists to Ipods, but I notice also that the selected crossfade feature, does not appear to be working in MM4 player.

When I used MM Direct Sound output plugin, I had even more problems with my mp3 music in MM library, sometimes it would play songs, but many times it would freeze, and not play any songs at all , unless I did a complete Win XP, on my Dell PC Restart, which was a big headache and happened all the time in MM4. Switched to Waveout Output plugin, the frequent MM freezing stopped, and my songs play, but just the remaining playback and Ipod syncing issues still remain. Is there any other options I might try? Thanks!

So I have been chasing skipping tracks for nothing? Make sure you're using the MediaMonkey DirectSound output plugin.

Yes exactly, they all play , but without crossfade effect in MM, even though I have enabled in MM player. The Crossfade does work still in my Ipods after sycned with MM, at least most of the time.

Are you saying that files play, but don't seem to crossfade?

I did have a about 5 or 6 songs with Deadlinks in my library that was giving me playback problems, but I already went in and rescanned these over a week ago, and have not been having those problems anymore.
So those extra devices showing in addition to my 2 current Ipods should not be effecting anything as far as playback and syncing? Should I leave them all enabled still, in case MM needs them somehow?

The files being skipped play in MM , but even though I have Crossfade option selected in my MM player, do not really hear it in any songs played in MM. The Crossfade feature does work and play in my Ipod Nanos most of the time, except all the random songs that freezes at beginning and then is skipped over. Just really wish I knew why sometimes they will play in playlist fine and even crossfade in fine, but others times will freeze, and be skipped over in playlist etc?
I have done all the Itune checks and looked thru your suggested links to try and check everything as best as possible, but cannot find any direct answers for this playback problem on both of my Ipod Nanos. Should I leave the Crossfade enabled in Itunes or no? Do the crossfade times have to be exactly the precise, same time length in Itunes and MM 4?

By the way, are you apart of MM Support Lowlander? I already sent a Debug a couple weeks ago to MM Support, but just received short Vague answers to only some of the problems, sorry to say, but the answers were not much help. I am getting desperate for a resolution to these playback problems, just dreading having to return to Itunes after all this time and effort. Thanks!!!

The picture can be incorrect, the device description is more important. Also MediaMonkey will have some default devices listed to show the plugins that come with MediaMonkey required to connect to those devices in case a user does have them. This shouldn't affect anything.

The Silence Between Songs addon is something that you would need to have installed yourself. If you didn't you shouldn't worry about it (see Tools > Extensions).

Problems with files on portable devices could be improper conversion rules allowing files types that are not supported to be synced to the device.

For the files in MediaMonkey check the Entire Library > Files to Edit > Dead Links node. Do many files show here? If so it is saying that those files can't be found by MediaMonkey and thus can't be played. If no files show this shouldn't be the problem you're having. In that case try to locate a file that failed to play using Windows Explorer and try to play it in MediaMonkey. If it fails it means a file type incompatibility if it plays you may want to send a debug log (step 4b) apturing the failure of files playing in MediaMonkey and send it to support.

Why files grey out: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=94 read this
