Yeah, I have 4.06 also and have been getting random crashes for awhile. I will open 3-4 times with no issue...and then open one more time and then the computer will make a "bing" noise (sorry, that is the technical term) and then the Media Monkey Load screen will be frozen in the middle of my screen, won't load, and can only be removed by killing the process. At this point, it will continue to hang in the same way until I reboot and then will start working again.

Not interested in installing and running a whole debug tool, but if there is somewhere I can look in my existing logs for the error, I wouldn't mind looking........

It sucks having to depend on WMP and I hate to bring up money, but I did pay for my MM Gold and would appreciate a fix or solution of some kind.
You should contact the support team with a debug log. Or at least a detailed explanation of the problem.

I don't think there's any known problem. You should contact the support team with a debug log.

It's also happening in v4.0.6.1501:

Has there been any progress in addressing this specific issue in the last couple of versions?

Has this been registered as a bug? Or do you need more information?

Thanks.
Please use the current version 4.0.5 and see if the problem continues.

I get the same problem, except my frequent random crashes occur in 'in_wmp3.dll':

"Access violation at address 08674A20 in module 'in_wmp3.dll'. Write of address 0873C980."

MediaMonkey then can't be closed - it has to be killed from the Task Manager.

I'm using Windows 7 x64 and MediaMonkey v4.0.2.1462.

FYI: Here's another person who had a similar "Access violation at address 708B1EAF in module 'in_mfaudio.dll'" problem:

Just had another MM crash (Windows stays up and responsive).
This time, the MM Report Error dialog came up. Unfortunately, I clicked on "Tell me more about this problem" link. This brings up the error info, but when I clicked [OK] on that dialog after viewing the info, the original Error dialog also closed automatically, without giving me a chance to hit [Send Report]. Grrrr. {This maybe a separate bug in the MM error reporting system...?}

Luckily, it saved a Mediamonkey.elf file:

Code: Select all

4.0.5 Bug: Persistent random crashes

by peterH » Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:26 am

System: Intel E8500, 6GB Ram, AMD HD5450 video, Win7 x64 SP1 + MM 4.0.5.1496 + Quicktime Alternative 1.81 (I was prompted to install QT by MM4 when it came across a file it couldn't play)

Ever since I installed MM4 on my new Win7 x64 box, I've been getting MM randomly closing every couple of hours when playing an autoPlaylist.
This didn't happen with MM3 on my old XP box, with the same music collection, on the same hard drive. A lot of my tracks are M4As, so with MM3, I had the AAC plugin installed.
After installing MM4, I did install the AAC plugin too, as I didn't realise it wasn't MM4 compatible - and it did allow me to install it OK. I've since realised it is MM3-only and uninstalled it.

It's annoyed me so much now, that it's time to do something about it.
Yesterday, I installeed the debug version, but it does not generate any error messages or error log when crashing. Mediamonkey.elf does not exist.
So today I installed DebugView.

Just now I manually changed a few tracks, MM crashed and the Windows error (Not responding/Close Program) dialog came up:

Code: Select all
