It's been on the to-do list for over 5 years: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=231

Huh. Okay. Thanks for clarifying that.

I don't suppose there's any plan to implement comparing by puid or something?

Nope. The files are compared using a basic MD5 hash, which could change if the tags are not the same across the tracks.

Considering that the duplicates were imported from an old backup, they should be identical. Changes to tags shouldn't matter, since that's kind of the point of the duplicate content search, right?

Probably due to the nature of how MM searches for duplicates. The duplicate content node only shows duplicate tracks which are exact copies of one another (same file size, type, bitrate, etc.)

I've also observed this. MM finds some of my duplicates but not all. Many of them I had to locate manually.

Both Duplicate Titles (should list files with matching Title AND Artist) and Duplicate Content (only works if scanning for duplicate content is enabled under Tools > Options > Library and the files have been scanned with the option enabled) work for me.

Duplicate file Title and content broken

Duplicate file Title and content blank in 4.06.1501. It is a default install and both worked for about a week then stopped. They show blank results on a win 7 machine where there is clearly duplicates it title and content. I have changed nothing in tools but the skin.

I have un-installed from program and features run ccleaner to remove reg entries, deleted off appdata\roaming\mediamonkey, and re-installed. Same results blank.

I wouldn't be surprised this doesn't work on video files, but on FLAC files this works for me. I just copied a Library file to the PC to 2 different folders. From those folders I drag it back to the Entire Library node to scan them both in. In the Duplicate Files node I know see the file and it's 3 copies.

The test I did 24th August was with two diferent flac files and they didn't show up in the Entire Library / Files to Edit / Duplicate Content area.

I've just done the same steps with a mp3 file and that file did indeed show up in the Entire Library / Files to Edit / Duplicate Content area.

I did another test with a mov file and that file also showed up in the Entire Library / Files to Edit / Duplicate Content area.

So maybe it has something to do with the format of the file?

Ok, thanks for checking. I'll see if I can get this behaviour to repeat another way and report back with the steps.

Works as expected too for me.

I think that MM works fine on a blank library. It is subsequent imports where I find this bug. Would you be kind enough to check for me please?

I did it with a blank Library.

Hi guys.

Lowlander, are you trying this on a blank, virgin library? I can repeat this with a library of 35Gig or so. Also, this is happening to some duplicate files and not others. Can you please check again on a big library and try it with more than just one track?

Thanks again.
