Fair enough. I wish more dialogs had been enlarged! Perhaps they will be...

Baffling, given:

Code: Select all

Create multi-artist Albums...
Remove unused Albums
Remove unused Artists
Clear Virtual CD entries for missing tracks
Clear Preview entries for missing previews
Optimize database (Quick)
Optimize database (Complete)
well the statement i offered up might have included more words or "the" in it. its been some time ago and that email has long since been deleted. and remember its been so long ago it might have been on the smaller menus of the mm2.1 version sometime back around then is when i believe they made the menus wider.

the only way i found out was to email rusty when it first was put in the monkey program some where like 3 to 4 years ago. or that is when i first remembered i wanted to know what it was and sent to him. so it is a little confusing but its not going to remove any songs. 8) its just database up keep.

its funny but when i cut my posts down to lower the number of lines to scroll it seems there is never enough info giving? but if i give all the info i can people complain i make too long of posts? just can't win  :(

but i asked him that too Chris from what i remember he said its just a few letters shorter and saved room on the menu.. but an explanation in the help files could be put for people to read? :D

No wonder people find this confusing. Why not just say "Remove empty albums", Devs??

What does that mean?
If you haven't played them or something??? :-?
It means if the artist or album is in your database (ie in the drop down menus) but no tracks by that artist/album actually exist in your DB (because you've deleted them).

Oh, that all.
Harmless stuff.

Well, I am too organised to have them.

But thanks for explaining. :)

that should find and clear out your trash listings. :)
I think RC means File | Maintain Library | Compact database

Whether or not that actually removes the entries I'm not sure.
OK. I have not done this before.

glad it was a bug and it was fixed but it still should work the way i said too as it did on my computer. but then again when i posted that last year i had my computer tweaked to the hilt and back. so it might have been one of the tweaks that caused something to do that in my computer. i don't know i have not had to do this with my system since i un tweaked it. :-?

Verified fixed in 1249 http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5670. But note that the junk of devices deleted before this version remains, and is not removed by e.g. Maintain Library.

I realy hope not! That would cause a real messup when the Device ID is reused by a new device.

not really because when you put the new device on with the old id monkey will then look at the storage memory and see nothing there. and change his device list of the last sync'ed to that id, when you sync more.
so the list will be removed when you sync new songs to the id even if it is a new device using the old id.

In DeviceTracks, yes.

Yup.

No.

The device is long gone - from UI and table Devices.

no i was not hopeful about it i had thought you were talking about them as i posted in my last post.
but it seems you were talking about something else then what i read in your post. :-?

you say the songs are in the library but listed in two places one you are calling orphaned because it is for a device you don't have? do you still have the device's options in the auto sync options? monkey might be keeping the list because that is still there. if not then he must be keeping a last sync'ed list for the device.
