First just a couple of tips to make using both a little smoother. 1. If possible you should have them both setup to use the same directory structure and location. 2. You should only use one to make edits on, it would make the porcess much easier. Second, I do not know if I can make your process easier but this is my current practice. I use MM on a XP machine at work and Win7 at home, all my editing and adding is done on the home computer:
1. add new tracks and complete editing.
2. copy the database and new tracks to an external device (my mp3 player) but any will do.
3. copy the database to the work computer along with putting the tracks into their new home.
4. use the
Move Device script to update the database to the new drive so the tracks are accessible.
5. at the end of the day export a playlist of all the tracks that have been played during the day. Use the same external device to transport the playlist, sometimes I email it to myself.
6. at home import the playlist into MM and use
Add/Remove Playstats script to update the playcount.
This way I do not have to worry about missing tracks in the database as well as conflicts with editing in two locations. For those tracks where I have changed the location or name of the files on the work computer I use the Dead Links node to find them and fix them so they are recognized in the new database. For the most part the work computer is only used for playing, I try not to make any changes there, the same is true for my player.
