Hi Rusty,

I actually found an older device profile, prior to the issue, so there may be something to go on here. How/Where would you like me to send this to you? (PM'd you the same)

Andy

Hi Rusty,
I've since messed with the settings sufficiently so that I no longer see the issue. I know I had to add '.m4v' and change some other things along the way. I was so frustrated that I did not take the time to document what it was vs what the settings are now.

The (video) files are large (500+ MB) so I don't think I 'll be able to provide a link. In the meantime, I will send you the exisiting profile.

I experienced a similar bug at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8300.

Can you:
a) send me the device profile for the device with which this is occurring ?
b) PM me a link to a file that experiences this problem ?

Thanks.

-Rusty

It could be that 1421 now has a profile for the device where it didn't before.

OK, I'll keep playing with the settings. I know I was never warned before the last release or two. Perhaps the defaults changed.

You will need to check any formats you want to be send to the device, I'm not aware that this has changed it even was the same in MM3.

You could remove all supported formats at which point it will show Unknown (all formats) and then just set specific rules for conversion (ie FLAC > MP3) if needed.

Hi LL,

Thanks... missed that setting. What if I don't want it check any videos? Do I have to enter the bitrates, framerates, etc? Also M4V is not specifically listed even though it's an MPEG4 variation... does that matter?

Assuming because this was not a problem before, it was introduced in a recent version (this or the one prior). Is it possible to get this to behave as it did before?

In the Device Profile go to the Options tab > Auto-Conversion and use Set Formats to define what's compatible with the device.

Oh, I and I guess it's worth noting I have already disabled the option under 'Auto conversion' > 'Incompatible video', but it still refuses to sync and alerts me that the files were incompatible (which, again, they are not).

The latest version (4.0.0.1421) is incorrectly reporting that my video files are incompatible with the device and therefore refuse to sync. Not only did these particular MP4 files sync without issue in previous builds, they also play fine and and are well within spec.

Given the variance of Android devices I'm not even sure how you can make this determination. Regardless, I'd like to know if there is a way to shut off the incompatibility check -- I'd prefer to decide what lands on my phone.

Thanks for any input...
