i tried to change the volume leveling via script and it seems to work fine though it's a bit difficult to find the maximum value without destroying the speakers. The value can be written via Song.leveling property directly to the mp3-file. I tested this with mp3-files not including in my database.

That remembers me of the beginning of my music managment, I decided to delete all tags and cut the beginning and the end to save a few kilobytes. I thought that the filenames have enough information for me. But then my system crashed and I had to recover them in the dos mode. Result 8.3-filenames.

I'll NEVER (!) do that again!

No luck with synchronization it seems that by permanently adjusting mp3 volume no matter what I did or how much I increased db it didn't affect anything.. so I gave up.. was about to try converting to mp3->wav->mp3 when I came across!!!

mpTrim (freeware) (200kb) and in less that 5 seconds it pumped up the volume with no ill effects and no re-encoding.. pluss it also can trim mp3's, which I have been dying to find a good app! yay! Great piece of software!

You can't manual change the volume level thru MediaMonkey.

Your approach sounds valid so the problem might be that the player get the information from the song itself instead of the DB. You might want to try synchronize tags (ctrl+S) for the tracks that you have manually updated. Maybe it saves the new value to the track this way.
You might also want to try a bigger change to make sure that you can notice it. Just make sure that you turn down the volume to not damage your speakers. Please do report back to the forum on your findings.

convert the songs to wav files.

use a wav editor program to adjust the volume of the file in the wav format.

then reconvert it back to the format it was in.

remember not to over write the orgianl one with the wav leave it there.

now when you are ready to convert the wav file back to the orgianl format

just scan it in to monkey in a new folder. then search the libirary for the name of the song, it should show both the orginal one and the wav file.
select the wav file hold the control down. select the orginal file now click on the properties tag on the menu bar.

the properties panel should pop up with the properties for the orginal song.
you just put a check mark in the check box's for all the information you want on the wav file. and press okay. all the properties of the orginal file will be put on the wav file.

all but the album art, and maybe the lyrics?

but make sure you look at all the propertie TABs to make sure you get all information you want on the wav file.

now rename the orginal song's file name just add a number in it.

okay now just select the wav file and convert it to the format you want.
and use auto organizer to move it to the fileing system style you want.

you should have both the origanl and the new one . check the song and see if it was messed up when you reconverted it if so then try it all over again. but keep the orginal song until you get the volume right or a good copy of the new one then delete the orginal one.

Hello, I searched on this subject but did not find any answer for my question so here it goes.


I use the "LEVEL TRACK VOLUME" feature in MM and have had no problems with 99.9% of my songs, but with a few the volume is a bit low for my liking. Is there a way to manually adjust the volume leveling for these few songs? I went into the database "MDB" and tried adjusting the leveling values.. say from "0.1" -> "0.25" to try and make MM play songs at a higher level, but it didn't work.. (I've saved the file and rescanned songs in MM, but despite showing a higher value under INFO->LEVELING the songs play at previous levels)

Any ideas?
