I mailed it to the address that comes up when I click the e-mail link in your post. Should I use a different address?

No, did you e-mail it directly to me?

Did you receive the files successfully?

I can now reproduce this reliably. If part of the synchronization is deleting a track from the Shuffle, it loses the bookmarks. I'm e-mailing you two zip files of the iPod_Control/iTunes folder before and after the sync.

It happened again. Maybe I'll just keep saving off my Shuffle contents before I synch.

No response required; I'm posting the scenario for a "paper" trail:

1. Tracks ABCD (genre "Podcast") on Shuffle added from two playlists.
2. Play track C for about 30 minutes.
3. Use MM to remove B from one of the playlists and add track E to same playlist.
4. Sync Shuffle with MM. MM asks permission to delete B. Confirm.
5. Play Shuffle. Shuffle starts in the middle of track D (which should've been at the beginning) and loses its place in track C.

Try to find some steps how to reproduce it in case it's really a bug in MM, currently I don't know about any issue in this area.

It happened again. I'm not sure if it's worth sending you the pre-synch files because I can't guarantee if it'll happen on the next synch.

In case it helps, I had four tracks--all Podcast genre--and one had been played about 5-10 minutes. I sync'd, which deleted three and added two. When I played it again, I was at the beginning of the track. (Plus, I had to skip to the correct track--is MM or the Shuffle supposed to remember the current track between syncs? No, I don't use 'shuffle' mode.)

Ok, well, I don't know if I did something wrong the first time or if there's some special way to repro this. But, when I deleted the tracks from the Shuffle and went to play the remaining one, it had saved its place. I added a track and sync'd again and it still saved its place. Hopefully I did something wrong before, but I'll keep a look out for it to happen again.

Sorry for the false alarm.

I'll e-mail you that folder tonight. I've got five files on the Shuffle now, but I'll sync to delete four, then play the remaining Podcast track, and re-connect to send you the folder contents.

Unfortunately, I don't use iTunes (because I lurve MM!), so I can't send you the dir for comparison. Is that an issue?

You can try to e-mail me the content of your \iPod_Control\iTunes\ folder after you play the files on iPod (preferrably just one file on iPod for clarity), connect to PC, but _don't_ run MM or iTunes. Ideally send also content of the same folder, after you resynch with 1. MediaMonkey, 2. iTunes, so that I could review if there's any difference.

Thanks,

Was anyone able to reproduce this?

by skst » Thu Mar 08, 2007 9:57 am

Yes, the genre is "Podcast".

Do the files have genre 'podcast' (or at least contain this string)? It should work then.

I'm back. I'm running 2.5.5.998, which AFAIK is the latest version of MM. And, although it was fixed in earlier versions, MM is losing my place again. (I don't want to say "bookmark" because, as I understand it, that's a specific feature.)

Here's the scenario.

1. I delete everything from my iPod Shuffle (1st gen). (Nothing in MM playlist I sync with. Double-check MM's file list of my Shuffle--nothing there.)

2. I sync two Podcast (genre = "Podcast") tracks and one Pop (genre = "Pop") track to my Shuffle.

3. I play one of the Podcast tracks for about 10-15 seconds. (Other times, I've played more than 15-20 minutes and it's lost its place.)

4. I sync the Shuffle again. (Nothing's transferred.)

5. I play the Shuffle again. I'm at the beginning of the Podcast, instead of 10-15 seconds in.

Is this a known issue? Should it act like this? If so, I'd really really really like to see the ability for my Shuffle to keep its place between syncs. Losing my place 35 minutes into an hour-long podcast is very very annoying.
