MM3 does not finalize the tracks and moves to next one sometimes. I have no idea.

Yes, I tried it in Winamp without problems. At least I thought so.
But after some more tracks Winamp had a similar problem. It hung up, meaning that it repeated 2 seconds of the song over and over again until I restarted the track.

Seems to be a problem with my server and not with MM.
Although I have no idea what problem it is.
There have never been any problems copying gigabytes of data or watching 1gb tv recordings with media player classic from the same network share.
When playing the MP3 files however, the server seems to have some problems.
There are also no suspicious server log entries.
Maybe I'll investigate it with Wireshark (but I doubt that I'll find the problem ;)).

Thank you anyway!

have you tried to manualy play those specific songs to rule out accessability problems through the samba service or permission issues?

MM skips to the next track on busy network drives

Actually, MM2 also has this "bug".

I have all my music on a network drive (Linux server using Samba).
Generally, that's fine.
But when the server is under (minimal) load, MM skips to the next track.
I'm already using the DirectSound plugin with a buffer of 20secs (maximum).
Still the same problem.

Interestingly this problem seems to occur even if the server is only under minimal load, say can't respond for 1 or 2 seconds.
Sometimes it seems to appear even if there is no load on the server, but it appears more frequently when the server is busy.
Does MM use some (small) timeout when reading from a "hard drive"?
As I have a buffer of 20secs, the buffer shouldn't be the problem.
Also, other media players (e.g. Winamp) don't have any problems playing music from the network drive.

Any ideas?
