Well, the good news is that this problem is now solved in MM 2.5 (still alpha).
You can now select that play now adds the file to now playng without erasing the old list!!!!!
Suppose you have:
Track1
Track2
Track3

and track 1 is playing... with the new option if you select play now for another track (e.g. track4) then track4 will be played instantly and the order in now playing will be:

Track1
Track4
Track2
Track3

so after track4 finishes playing the track2 will play...

Cool eh?

Play Now - Review

Actually it would be nicer and easier (I think) if Play Now add a track at the end of the Now Playing list and just plays it.

I don't understand why it must erase the Now Playing list just to play a track.

Yes this would be good. Or a Back button for Now Playing

Since MM now allows drag & drop between apps, I use winamp's playlist to build custom playlists. No undo function there either, but playing a song in MM won't erase the playlist.

I just want to add my vote for this! It's very frustrating to accidentally lose my current playlist just because I did a quick listen to something else in the library.

That looks like a good idea...

Feature Request: Playlist (Now Playing) undo functionality

It is pretty easy to erase or seriously change the "Now Playing" list accidentially. To deal with this, an undo functionality would be very helpful.

The "now playing" list is erased when selecting a new song and selecting "Play Now" (which is default for doubleclicking on a song, or a file in Windows Explorer). I have accidentially done this several times while building up a custom playlist, and it is extremely frustrating. "Undo" functionality would avoid this problem at the same time as it would not force annoying confirmation dialogs on the user.
