Re: Volume levelling to portable device

Analysing - it figures out how loud the track (&/or album) is and records this in the tags. E.g. 'this track is 10dB lower than the goal level'. Levelling - it figures out how loud the track is, and then adjusts it (by multiplying all the volume values by whatever constant is required) so that the t...

Re: Volume levelling to portable device

Ah, I'd call that a bug then - it means the volume tags sent to the device don't actually match the volume of the track they are attached to. You would not really have to recalculate, you can either offset them by the amount of volume change you applied during levelling, or else just force them to '...

Re: Volume levelling to portable device

I'm converting to .ogg anyway, and it is no extra computation to level the volume at same time. No particular reason to do it or not do it, but some players (which can play ogg) don't manage the levelling, so I sort of do it 'by default'. I just wonder why, after levelling, the player (if it tries t...

Volume levelling to portable device

A query ... maybe a bug. All my MM tracks have been volume analysed. When I put them onto my portable player, which runs Rockbox, in .ogg format, I asked for the tracks to be volume levelled. Rockbox can also, on playback, level by track or album volume tags (one of very few players which can, iirc)...

Re: Windows firewall -- which MM apps should be enabled?

Solved .. thanks.

There were two issues - firstly I needed to restart the router (again!) for some reason, secondly you can't access the DNLA server from the same PC it is being run on, apparently. Other computers on the network could see it, but the XP PC it was running on could not.

Re: Windows firewall -- which MM apps should be enabled?

Any further thoughts on this anyone? I am seeing something similar on a Win XP machine - having turned uPnP and SSDP services on, the MM4 DNLA server now pops up a notification when you enable media sharing, (and every time you delete it, and add a new server with a new port number) but any attempt ...

scrobbling after upgrade to MM4

Having just upgraded a PC from 3 to 4 I get no last fm logging .. looking in the MM scrobbling log file I see 05/05/2012 14:44:10.186: Last.FM: Exclusion found in "" Filter/Collection 05/05/2012 14:44:10.196: Last.FM: NowPlaying Skipping as Track is excluded by "" Filter/Collection No idea what filt...

MM4 synch playlists

When I synch to a portable device, even though the tracks get synched, it doesn't seem like the playlists get sent to the device (if they are already there), nor do any playlists which are there, but no longer being synched, get deleted. i.e. the whole 'synch' things doesn't seem to apply to playlis...

Re: MM4 fails to find ALL of device(s) to sync

Love to, but right now I don't have time to reinstall debug version, etc etc. I am sure a quick peer at the code would reveal the problem. FWIW, the drive (F:) shows up under 'my computer', it just doesn't show as a synchable device. Going into options, portable devices, find device, finds it just f...

MM4 fails to find ALL of device(s) to sync

If I attach my Sandisk 'clip zip' (which looks like TWO disc drives) while MM4 is running, then it correctly finds (and autosynchs) both the clip zip (G:) and the inserted micro SD card (F:). If however I start MM4 after the clip-zip is already attached to the PC, only the player itself (G:) shows u...

Re: synch to portable device - album art (MM4)

I guess it may be, yes, but that thread is a) convoluted and b) in the beta forum. MM4 (as released) is still not resynching tracks (or resending the tags - that ought be enough) when I've added images to the tracks. A definitive statement somewhere of 'what causes a track to be resent to a device' ...

Re: MM4 - <playlist> item

Really? That's pretty dumb. So if I write a path 'x:\<playlist>\<etc.. I get different paths (and all files re-written) if I tick the 'organize playlists by prefix' box? I would EXPECT the playlist on the device to have a prefix added, but I'd expect the root definition for <playlist> to stay the sa...

synch to portable device - album art (MM4)

Having added album art to many tracks which didn't have it, I find they are NOT being resynched to the portable device .. the timestamp on the portable device file is being updated to 'current time' OK, but the file is still the old version with no art in (yes, I have ticked the boxes for send art, ...

Re: MM4 - <playlist> item

Talking to myself here, but anyway .. '<playlist> is expanding as 'playlist - <playlist> in the synch to device output if (and only if) you select the 'organize playlists by prefix' box under the synch playlists options. Apparently the 'playlist - ' prefix is being added to <playlist> wherever it sh...

Adding album art

I now have album art set to 'in tag if possible, and in folder'. If I have a set of tracks ripped from a CD, as well as a MM database entry to the CD tracks themselves (not available, if the CD is not in) I can select the whole lot and 'tag from web' - the album art gets downloaded, put in the tags ...
