Re: Garmin fenix 5 or 6 watch sync

Thanks, I mostly plan to use it for audio books so space/quality not an issue, battery life may be (already bad enough when using the GPS and mapping). I have an android phone, but sometimes like to travel a) lite, and b) off grid!

Re: Garmin fenix 5 or 6 watch sync

Yes, it does, and it now shows up as a device just above 'my computer'. I guess it was something to do with whether MM was running before I plugged it in, or whether some other utility grabbed the device or something. I ought to be able to sync it now! Thanks (and glad to see you are still here afte...

Garmin fenix 5 or 6 watch sync

Got a shiny new (old) fenix watch which will play bluetooth music or audio books, but the garmin express sync/update app on the windows pc is the slowest thing I ever did see. The fenix 5 storage shows up on windows (10) explorer as a device, but not an attached drive. Is there some way to get mm4 t...

Re: Broken file conversions in Win10

Running the installer as admin seems to solve the problem (or maybe just running it again?) .. temp files are in the same place, and now no issue. The error message about being unable to decode the format was definitely most unhelpful.

Re: Broken file conversions in Win10

Yes, that's the one I just installed. I am trying again running the installer itself as 'run as admin' to see if that helps. Got to be something to do with the temp file locations maybe, or some other permissions things, since running MM4 as admin works fine, running as a user gets all these format ...

Re: Broken file conversions in Win10

Nope, tried changing file permissions on 'tempdir' and thought it worked, but now it does not seem to. Back to running as admin I guess .. anyone got other suggestions?

Broken file conversions in Win10

Since converting to win10 (forced) MM refuses to convert my .mp3 files into .ogg, .wma, or anything else (.wav seems ok) .. I get a 'cant decode format' error message (which is silly, because it decodes and PLAYS the .mp3 fine). If I 'run as administrator', suddenly it works, so maybe MM4 is failing...

Re: Volume levelling to portable device

Analysing - it figures out how loud the track (&/or album) is and records this in the tags. E.g. 'this track is 10dB lower than the goal level'. Levelling - it figures out how loud the track is, and then adjusts it (by multiplying all the volume values by whatever constant is required) so that t...

Re: Volume levelling to portable device

Ah, I'd call that a bug then - it means the volume tags sent to the device don't actually match the volume of the track they are attached to. You would not really have to recalculate, you can either offset them by the amount of volume change you applied during levelling, or else just force them to '...

Re: Volume levelling to portable device

I'm converting to .ogg anyway, and it is no extra computation to level the volume at same time. No particular reason to do it or not do it, but some players (which can play ogg) don't manage the levelling, so I sort of do it 'by default'. I just wonder why, after levelling, the player (if it tries t...

Volume levelling to portable device

A query ... maybe a bug. All my MM tracks have been volume analysed. When I put them onto my portable player, which runs Rockbox, in .ogg format, I asked for the tracks to be volume levelled. Rockbox can also, on playback, level by track or album volume tags (one of very few players which can, iirc)...

Re: Windows firewall -- which MM apps should be enabled?

Solved .. thanks.

There were two issues - firstly I needed to restart the router (again!) for some reason, secondly you can't access the DNLA server from the same PC it is being run on, apparently. Other computers on the network could see it, but the XP PC it was running on could not.

Re: Windows firewall -- which MM apps should be enabled?

Any further thoughts on this anyone? I am seeing something similar on a Win XP machine - having turned uPnP and SSDP services on, the MM4 DNLA server now pops up a notification when you enable media sharing, (and every time you delete it, and add a new server with a new port number) but any attempt ...

MM4 synch playlists

When I synch to a portable device, even though the tracks get synched, it doesn't seem like the playlists get sent to the device (if they are already there), nor do any playlists which are there, but no longer being synched, get deleted. i.e. the whole 'synch' things doesn't seem to apply to playlis...
