You should be able to go to Options > Hotkeys to see a list of hotkeys, ticking them as Global means they work when it is not in focus.

Ctrl+Alt+1 rates currently playing track 1 star
Ctrl+Alt+4 rates currently playing track 4 stars etc

If you install the 'Everything' search engine, it will search your files lightning fast. I just tested it using albumartsmall.jpg and it found a couple.

Only on albums that have 3 or less songs though, anything higher and it will have no problems.

So although it is more inconvenient, I add album art through right clicking the album and adding album art through the tags.
