Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

Hello Zephyr, I don't know, if there are any bad implications, if you elevate your portable installation of MM. In my case if, I have to choose between portable and normal installation, as I have to go through the whole procedure again if I want to re-associate files with another installation. Maybe...

Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

 You are right, I just forgot that. I assume, if I want the BETA to be the handler for mp3 and so on, I'd better install the normal MM as portable version then.

Sorry!

Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

Hi Lowlander,

that is what I meant, but I still have both MMs always using the same skin / design. I guess, that means, they both use the same MediaMonkey.ini! Does anybody know how to change this behaviour? Or is it impossible?

Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

Hi, the solution in your kb seems only to work in XP pro not in XP home, but I think it's allright now, because I can go on BETA-testing with the non-portable version. BTW is there any means to have the BETA non-portable use different designs than the normal MM? It used to work like this, but it doe...

Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

I've just did a clean install of (First I forgot to delete the MM3.X Database, which puzzled me for a few moments): 1.) MM 2.) MM BUILD 1662 as portable version 3.) MM (I had to reinstall, because otherwise I could only fire up MM via the "play last" / "play next" explorer context options ) I still ...

Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

Well I already knew, that the portable version doesn't autoregister but as you see in the OP, I've already set the file associations in the portable version. There is no other version of MM installed at the moment, I've doublechecked this. So maybe I should do a clean install of MM. Could you plz po...

Re: Files (e.g. mp3) are not played when opened via explorer

Hello, I've tried every version of opening the file in windows / explorer and none of them worked. The 1661 build is installed in D:\MediaMonkey. (I've chosen portable during the installation process, as I at that time I had also the non Beta / normal version of MM installed) BTW: I've also tried un...

Re: Windows XP integration - file handling

Hello,
I didn't do portable install.
I don't know if I'm able to produce this bug again. But if you have any ideas, what might have been wrong, please let me know, okay?
Anyhow, if nobody will confirm this bug, I'm probalby the last betatester, who uses Windows XP?

Bug or Feature, certain wave files not playing?

I guess it is a feature: I have certain wave files, which are not being played by MM4. Most of them are small (<12KB) system sound files, but there are 3, I created via avidemux and these files do start MM4, once being doubleclicked in windows explorer, and are shown in MM4's list, but it doesn't pl...

Re: Windows XP integration - file handling

Hello, I had a thorough look at the problem on 2 PCs, which have both MM4.0.21462 , Itunes 10.4.1.10, Irfanview 4.30, Mediaplayer Classic 1.5.3.3752, AIMP2, Quicktime 7.7 (1680.34) and WMP 11.0.5721.5280 installed. One OS is Windows XP Home SP3, the other one is Windows XP Media Center Edition Versi...

Re: Windows XP integration - file handling

Thanks, that works.
But it's only a workaround, as you must check the re-associate option.

Are the developers aware of this bug?
