Re: POLL - What are your computer specifications

Hi, I have been using Media Monkey for some time now to play music through my PA system using a laptop. I had been using a external sound card by Audio Dj which worked well, and media monkey recognises it in the output. It is hard to find information on what speed of computers people are using to r...

Re: Deleting Duplicate songs and What is "The Tree"?

I got Media Monkey because I needed help to find and delete duplicate songs on my mp3 player. Originally, I synced the mp3 player with my Windows Media. So, I'm just trying to figure out how to delete duplicate songs on my player with Media monkey. One of the powerful benefits of MediaMonkey is its...

Re: "Album Artist" Tag

I inadvertently posted on this topic again at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64260 , but wanted to point to that post here since I developed my argument more fully there. Since I just upgraded to MM 4 a few days ago, this issue has been refreshed in my brain. So, apologies for...

Re: "Album Artist" Tag

khelsing - I posted about this a few years back and invoked the wrath of the forum as they didn't get it either. The point I had tried to make was not that MM used the Album Artist tag but that by default it did exactly as you have noted. No other id3 tagger of which I am aware automatically autofi...

Re: MM 4.0.0.1459 Major issues

To the OP, I simply reinstalled MM3.25x back over MM4 and got back to where all things worked OK. I decided after about 90 minutes of having MM4 on one of my computers that this release had too extensive a change from the prior version and too many differences for me to use it. I am sure, given some...

Re: MM4 - Worst upgrade ever

Nohitter - thanks for your comment. When you have MM deployed on several computers, it takes a LOT more than 20 minutes to reconfigure every setting. Why that should be needed is another issue. The Now Playing window may actually be moveable but I'll hold off on putting MM4 on any of these systems u...

Re: MM4 - Worst upgrade ever

Had a copy of 3.24x from mid 2011, installed it, went very fast, all my prior settings were preserved, database Ok, now playing window back where it should be. The universe has now returned to a calm and orderly state.

I'll pass on version 4 for now.

Re: MM4 - Worst upgrade ever

Any way to roll back to 3.25x? recover all my old settings and personalizations? My biggest issue is that the version 4 display is a huge waste of screen real estate. What the hell was wrong with having now playing and playlist windows moveable over under the director trees? Why do I have to rebuild...

Re: "the" in artist - skews scrolling [#6484]

That will work! thanks for the tip.

So I guess making the 'The' a truly ignored prefix during a letter search, would be a finer point in the great scheme of things. Good to air it out.

cheers, jake

Re: "the" in artist - skews scrolling [#6484]

OK more time now with the collection. Enabling the (Ignore Prefix .... The) sorts my collection such that ie Beatles and The Beatles are grouped together. This is desireable. Not enabling the (Ignore Prefix) sorts my collection literally so I lose the nice grouping feature. So I can give up grouping...

Re: "the" in artist - skews scrolling [#6484]

Well I do not think this is how it is supposed to work but ..... Under Tools | Options | Appearance I checked the "ignore prefix ..." to OFF And now The is ignored. It works as I hoped it would. Lowlander and any others if you would please try this to confirm it might be there is an odd minor bug in...

Re: "the" in artist - skews scrolling

Yes, this is the annoyance that I believe has always been in MM.
Seems as if the setting under Appearance (very odd place to put something to do with tagging) does not work.

Re: "the" in artist - skews scrolling

Thank you Lowlander.

Yes I have this enabled. I recall going over this once before but to be sure I changed my entry of 'the' to 'The'.
Restarted MM.
Same thing.
The search when I touch letter T, stops at each instance of 'The'.

I really hope for a solution to this.

cheers, jake

"the" in artist - skews scrolling [#6484]

Hi, apologies if this has been answered in the past. I searched but it is tough to get the right verbiage into the search criteria so after half an hour of trying to search and manually scrolling the help forum I thought best to post my question. My collection is now close to 50,000 tracks and MM re...
