Re: Portable install loses settings.

Why might that be happening? I figured it out. The corrupted text at the start of the .ini was forcing MediaMonkey to use the local AppData folder. When I tried reinstalling MediaMonkey as a portable app, I overwrote the new 'Portable' folder with my old one, not realising it had a corrupted .ini f...

Re: Portable install loses settings.

Check if you still have [Portable] IsPortable=1 in the MediaMonkey.ini in the same Portable folder. Also check that DBName isn't set (by default it shouldn't be present in the ini). The MediaMonkey.ini file is still there, but it's first 5000 characters appear to be corrupted as they just read as g...

Re: Portable install loses settings.

This just happened to me too. I plugged my portable USB drive in today and MediaMonkey has lost all settings and preferences, and reverted back to a default version. The old MM.DB file is still there (in G:\PortableApps\MediaMonkey\Portable), it's just being ignored. I've completely removed MediaMon...

Re: Running MM under Mac OS X with Wineskin

Hi, is there a manual / faq / howto that one can point to on this topic, or do I have to read the full thread to get this thing to work? Regards erdnuesse The first post in the thread. Yep - that plugin solved my issue of exporting in Unix style file paths. I spoke too soon. For some reason, every ...

1) The Bug Tracker is public: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php and many bugs can also be found on the forum. That's a doubly useful link, since there's a roadmap page there too. I see now that the changlog that is listed in the Beta section also leads there....I hadn't clicke...

Re: MediaMonkey & OS X

So...err...can anyone tell me where that option is? It's in the portable device options. Note that option is only for playlists made when syncing a portable device. It would be a useful option for exporting playlists to M3U files on the local filesystem, and could increase sales to Apple Mac custom...

Re: MediaMonkey & OS X

M3U playlists will be exported using the Windows file format ('\') instead of the Mac OSX format ('/'). You can set list export to Linux Format that uses "/" I didn't know about that! Where do I find that setting? I've gone through all the 'Options' and can't see it anywhere. So...err...can ...

Re: MediaMonkey & OS X

Anyone using MediaMonkey with OS X under Parallels? About a year ago, I moved to using a MacBook Pro and OS X. For the most part, I am happy with the move from Windows. I do miss MediaMonkey and do have Parallels to run a couple of Windows only applications. So, I'm considering installing MediaMonk...

Re: Help moving files and folders

You can't rule for the exceptions? They're quite varied. Sorry. It's a collection Ive been building for over 10 years, and I doubt I'd be able to remember all the exceptions. You can also Cut & Paste in MediaMonkey. You can Cut a folder in the Location node and paste it there (if destination folder...

Re: Help moving files and folders

Probably using Auto-Organize Files command. Select the track(s) you want to move and Ctrl-R (or right-click and select auto-organize files) then define where you want them to go. Hmmm...that could create more problems than it solves. My folder hierarchy is not that strict, and I've got exceptions i...

Help moving files and folders

Hi, I have hundreds of folders organised as follows: <genre>\<artist>\<album>\<track> I want to move many of these folders into a subdirectory of my Music directory. So, instead of having: C:\My Music\<genre>\<artist>\<album>\<track> I would have C:\My Music\Mix Albums\<genre>\<artist>\<album>\<trac...

If this has to be "stated many times", then is there any reason why you don't put this information in the FAQ?

MediaMonkey Portable crashes badly when USB is disconnected

Hi, I'm using MediaMonkey v4.0.7.1511 Portable Edition on Windows 7 x64. If the USB drive that runs MediaMonkey becomes disconnected (e.g. someone knocks the cable, or some other hardware device causes the USB port to reset), then MediaMonkey will throw up numerous error messages similar to the foll...
