Advanced tagging (from partial file/path names)

So, I finally got my torrent downloaded of the John Peel Festive 50 collection (don't judge me! This collection is more about hearing the great mans voice again, as it is about the music -- and it's just not available to buy or I would!) Anyway -- this collection is all of the years of the old John ...

You don't really want to copy files to the Xbox... it uses a disk format called FATX which limits your filenames to 40 characters, and doesn't support filenames containing certain characters which are valid under windows. I too use XBMC, and just use normal SMB shares from my NAS... I don't use play...

This shouldn't happen if the artist is spelled the same, as MM will only allow one entry of that artist name and if you change the case it should update all tracks with that artist id. That was a bad example... I was actually thinking of all occurrences of the word 'of' (as well as 'and', 'the', 'f...

Excellent! Some suggestions for future features? : 1. Check for inconsistent use of The/ , The... i.e. ("The Cure" and "Cult, The") 2. Check for inconsistent capitalisation (The Sisters o f Mercy / The Sisters O f Mercy) 3. Check for inconsistent abbreviations (presents=pres., featuring=feat., etc) ...

Have MM scan your computer for the music files... when done, select them and hit 'Auto-Organise Files' (CTRL+R). You can then create a file specification of where they should go... e.g. I use... F:\Music\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track#:2> - <Title> Which organises things into the form... F:\Music\Pin...

I use Xbox Media Center as my main media unit in my home (both in my living room and bedroom). If the artwork is called folder.jpg inside the host folder, the media center (as well as some other media players on PC) will display that folder with the artwork (instead of a folder icon). Unfortunately,...

2.5.4.978 - Problems reading ID3 tags from network share

I've encountered a very odd problem. I've recently purchased a ReadyNAS 2TB disk array, with RAID 5 protection enabled. I'm storing my 130Gb FLAC encoded music database on it, so that I can stream it to my Xbox without needing the PC turned on. However, I've encountered an odd problem with drive map...

I disagree Big_Berny. A very large part of managing a CD collection is ripping - and I get annoyed when MM complains about read errors on lightly scratched CD's, and EAC is able to rip with no problems at all. When ripping to FLAC using EAC, I have to manually create folders and I still have to swit...

I currently have my entire collection stored as FLAC. I have been tagging using Media Monkey, and downloading Album Art from Amazon using the Auto-Tag From Amazon option in MM. My music is stored on the drive as Music\<album artist>\<album>\<track#:2> - <title> The art tagging from Amazon results in...

Sync to a folder?

Is it possible to sync to a folder? I have my collection encoded in FLAC format (all nicely organized and tagged), but I want to also batch convert the whole lot to MP3 format, to another folder. So, basically, I want to Sync to a folder (and have MM convert only the new/changed files). Is this poss...

CD Ripping Services

Anyone used a CD ripping service to rip their CD's? I'm curious to know if they actually rip the CD's, or just maintain a huge collection of pre-ripped CD's which they then burn off for you. I've been working my way through my CD collection - re-ripping to FLAC and retagging with full ID3 and artwor...

Standardise (and validate) artist names

I've been going through my CD collection reripping to FLAC and making sure that all tags are correct. However, I've noticed some discrepancies with some of the artist names... e.g. " A Flock of Seagulls" " The Psych e delic Furs" " The Thomson Twins" (as a few examples) The artist names are not cons...
