Re: Auto-organize and copying files question

Sounds like it'll work, then: copies of my files to a new location, my library stays the same. Thanks! Actually, that may not quite be the case. I'm not sure, but your MM database might think that the tracks you used Auto-Organize to copy to a drive that you will be giving to a friend are now found...

"why can't I add folders to MM".
In many years of using MM, I've never once had File>add/rescan files to the library fail to add those files to my library. Then I use Auto-Organize Files to put the folders containing those tracks where I want them. Works every time.

Re: a religious thing???

Perhaps rather than wasting time thinking of creative ways to insult the developers of MM, you should use that time to learn how to use the software. It is easy to turn off crossfade playback, though I have had occasion when it seemed to come back on spontaneously. If it does, I just turn it off aga...

Re: Greyed tracks after changing file path slightly

Naturally, MM will be unable to find tracks if you change the path, even in the slightest, outside of MM. Select the files you want MM to find and use File-->Locate Moved/Missing FIles. If you ever need to change the path again, use Tools-->Auto-Organize Files, where you can choose new paths. Instru...

Re: MediaMonkey sync makes iPhone XSMax crash

Thank you, Ludek. I was just about to give up on MM and go back to iTunes (ugh) so that I could back my XS Max up to my computer rather than iCloud. I can confirm that the beta fixes the problem. Restating the problem, with previous versions of MM and iOS 12.1, if you use MM to sync music to your iP...

Radom .m4a (AAC) tracks won't play

I have the latest version of MM. Suddenly having random tracks (usually all tracks in particular albums) suddenly unable to be played. Only a few dozen out of >200,000. MM says missing codec, yet thousands of other m4a tracks play just fine. Any ideas? Also, what is the best way to quickly find all ...

Might these files have iTunes DRM protection? That's something that can't be converted.
m4a files do not have DRM. m4p do.

Re: MM can't seem to find MM.DB

So I just replaced that INI with one from a few months ago that doesn't have all that gibberish. I seem to have lost a lot of settings, skins and extensions, but at least my playlists and data are back, so it opened the database properly and did not as me to import new music. It also has lost my Gol...

Re: MM can't seem to find MM.DB

Use any of your windows PCs and set security permissions (Folder properties) to FULL and set user as EVERYBODY. that should eliminate no DB access issues. I did that back when I installed MM as portable months ago. Just verified that settings remain exactly as you recommend, so permissions are not ...

MM can't seem to find MM.DB

Hi: I have a portable installation of the latest released version of MediaMonkey on a 4TB external hard drive. I use it on a laptop when traveling and my desktop when home. Both Windows 10 computers recognize the drive as Z:, and I can easily explore the drive on either. Every now and again, when I ...

Re: Playback spoken word from Audible.com

Managing Audible books is the only thing I use iTunes for anymore, and that's only to store versions on my computer as backups. I download and listen on my iPhone using the Audible App.

Re: maximum capacity (# of mp3 files) that can be managed in

This is precisely the reason I switched to MM. iTunes started choking at about 40,000 tracks because it re-saves the entire database every time you change the slightest thing about any track. It also could barely scroll. I have >242,000 tracks on MM, a mix of MP3, Apple Lossless and FLAC, that it ha...

Re: Classical Music path(s)?

I decided that since my main access to the music was through MM or Orange CD database and not through file structure, the file structure itself did not need to be that informative Exactly! There are really only a few things I care about with the directory structure. I want all the tracks of an albu...
