Re: NEWBIE TO THE FORUM WITH LARGE LIBRARY QUESTIONS

I'M PUSHING A LITTLE UNDER A HALF A MILLION SONGS ON A 8T SEAGATE HARDRIVE. WILL THIS MONKEY HANDLE IT IS THE QUESTION????????? ITUNES DID FINE WITH IT, BUT I'M DONE THERE. Wow! Really surprised that the stinking pile of steaming dinosaur dung known as iTunes could handle your half-million track li...

Re: Syncing with iPhones/iPads running iOS 16

So does iOS 16 mark the end of the ability to sync with an iPhone from MM 4?

Re: Can MM be used concurrently with ITunes on the same devices?

I used to do exactly that. I did music only via MM and Audible books via iTunes. I have since switched to managing my Audible books strictly via the Audible app, and I prefer this method.

Re: Alternative iPhone music app

Each Apple App works in its own space and they can't access files for other apps nor common folders (I have seen some exceptions, but on jail broken phones, but they might exist). Actually, there are many third-party music players available on the App Store that can directly access and play music t...

Re: Is Anyone Running MediaMonkey 4 & 5 Together?

Hi, I meant to manually copy DB files from MM4 to MM5 not media itself. Both Installations will be separate and changes to one will not propagate to other. You can disable Tag changes in tools -> Options -> Library -> Tags & Playlists, so any change will be in library only. Please note that Reg...

Re: Is Anyone Running MediaMonkey 4 & 5 Together?

Hi, I would only suggest that you manually copy library files instead of importing existing if prompted for import as that way new/separate install will create own space and eliminate possible cross share of folders. What do you mean by library files? Are you saying that I should keep two copies of...

Re: Should I upgrade to MMW5?

For me, it's all about add-ons. No RegExp Find and Replace = No upgrade, ever. Once it and probably Simple Append are available for MM5, I will upgrade.

Re: What are your addon Must-Haves?

RegExp Find and Replace is an absolute must-have for me. Will NEVER upgrade to MM5 until that is available for it. I use it extensively because I disagree with the naming and tagging conventions used for classical music used by iTunes and Gracenote. I also find Simple Append essential because I use ...

Re: Sound skips when rating song

Do bear in mind that making this change means that the rating you add will not be stored as tags unless you manually synchronize tags later.

Re: Sound skips when rating song

This has always happened to me. I've assumed that it was because the track is having a tag added (thus the actual file is re-save) and that caused a brief blip. Doesn't bother me any.

Re: Files keep graying out.

I've experienced two flavors of this: 1. MM jumps from one gray track to the next until it finally plays one that is not gray. In this case it always seems that MM lost track of the files for some reason, which is fixed with Locate Moved/Missing Files. 2. MM fails to play a song, turns the track gra...

Re: Files keep graying out.

This usually occurs because MM can't find the tracks to play. Try selecting some of them and running File>Locate Moved/Missing Files... and select the directory they're in. That should re-establish the connection. If that works, you can do it for all of the other tracks.

Re: CD Location

You can tag multiple tracks at once. If you select an entire album, you can edit the custom tag for all of its tracks at the same time.

Re: Sorting titles containing numbers

Yes, the leading zeroes is the only thing that will work for your scheme, but since that scheme works really well for you otherwise, going with them is worth any unsightliness. You'll only need it in the album field so long as your numbering your tracks. As an old guy who bought his first album (roc...

Re: Sorting titles containing numbers

What I do can only be done with MM Gold because AutoPlaylist functionality is not included in the free version. It is well worth the price. By "album model" I am referring to the long tradition of releasing a group of songs on a single (or a few) record(s) or disk(s). This model may be wan...
