The schedule for all my drives is set to Manual. At startup MM always monitors one of these drives.

Re: Media Tree search issue

@Barry I was using the 'Show all Nodes" extension. Personally i get the impression that the MM team would prefer to not have a Media Tree, so i don't expect to see any improvement in it. Pity because it is a very useful tool. BTW do you know how to search within a Collection. I select my Classical m...

Re: Media Tree search issue

Thanks Barry for that detailed analysis. What i want at the Tree nodes is a simple alphabetical search on the first name. This allows me to quickly navigate in the media tree. At the moment if i type 'bob' because i'm looking for Bob Dylan, I get the result "Big Bob" Dougherty & His Band. If i Ctrl ...

Re: Media Tree search issue

Thanks Peke but that is not the behaviour i am getting.
I tried "queen" as you suggest but i got a random response which didn't even have 'queen" in the text. & after that the system froze,

Media Tree search issue

Why do i get different results when i search in the media tree as opposed to the search bar on the top right of the main screen? eg, If i search for 'bob" in the media tree say for Artist I get the first occurrence of 'bob' in an artist name. Whereas in the top right search bar it brings up all name...

Problem editing comments in Properties [#15415]

Right click in Comments brings up Inspect Element - Open DevTools in Chrome instead of the context menu to allow copy, paste etc.

RegExp Find and Replace - MediaMonkey Add-on - by Zvezdan Dimitrijević

This add-on provided MM4 with a powerful editing tool for finding and replacing metadata about media files. Such a utility is not available in any other Media manager software that i am aware of. It is unfortunate that addons like this cannot easily be ported to MM5 & i think it is a big ask to expe...

Re: Media Tree

Hi Barry Thank you for taking the time to respond & it would be good if some others chimed in. The various options you describe are fine & in fact i will use them from time to time, however, for me a structured media tree is still the simplest & fastest way to find the musical data i need for editin...

Re: Media Tree

So it is "easy" if you understand Javascript. Unfortunately I don't. "One of the first questions people ask about learning a coding language is how long it takes. While JavaScript is a step up from the most fundamental web development skills (languages like HTML and CSS, which can be learned in unde...

Re: Media Tree

@Peke
I've not modified an mmip script before. Could you give me an example of how to do it, say for the tree structure below -

+ Genre
--- + Album Artist – Album
------ Track No - Title

Thanks
David

Re: Media Tree

Happy to be proved wrong, so here are some examples of what i'm missing. I can easily create these tree structures in Foobar & MusicBee but not in MM. + Genre --- +Album Artist ------- +Album -----------Track No - Title or + Genre --- + Album Artist – Album ------ Track No - Title or + Composer --- ...

Media Tree

I wrote in August 2018 Re: Issues with Collections/Tree Nodes/Views Post by Davo » Fri Aug 24, 2018 3:04 pm Media tree If you are going to have a media tree then let the user define the sub nodes. This is one of the strengths of Foobar & probably why it is still my main music manager because it lets...

Re: Version 2123 feedback

@Barry I agree that Top Tracks could be useful but not to me. I guess i have an aversion to the concept because I perceive it as a sort of 'Hit Parade' which is not the way i categorize or listen to music. I rarely listen to any music over & over & when I listen to Classical Music i don't listen to ...

Re: Version 2123 feedback

Yes, it is hard to look at the application as "ordinary user", when you see it from the other side as a developer On that point, why not put Views under Tools & let the "ordinary user" arrange their own views. Then you wouldn't have to try & guess what users really want. For example I would like to...

Re: Version 2123 feedback

I would prefer that "Top Tracks" was an optional view/function. imo there are already enough mechanisms to deal with large databases, eg Filters; Collections; Playlists; Views etc. If i want to listen to random tracks i can use Shuffle. "Top Tracks" seems too arbitrary & vague to be of much use.
