The latest beta build of MediaMonkey now supports ID3v2.3 correctly, and will read and store multiple entries in applicable MP3 tags with the internal "/". UI still presents with semicolon, just like Explorer shell, WMP 11, etc.

So, ddiction, you can undo your workaround now and stay compatible.

A final idea, and I don't know if this acceptable according to the tag specifications, but instead of combining multiple fields in to a single tag, you have multiple instances of a tag and then display them as one. Not acceptable for ID3v2 MP3. It would be a violation and nothing would work with it...

SDK consistency? WMA containers, which have "true" support for multiple names in metadata, doesn't use text delimiters... and it only shows the first one, too. :)

It does not. With "artist a/artist b" in an MP3 Arist field, MediaMonkey (V3.0.3.1148) fails to enter album a on the Artists node and fails to enter artist b on the Artists node. Not like it really matters, but do note the ID3v2.3 informal standard (which is the de facto standard, unlike ID3v2.4) defines forward slash "/" to split multiple artists... so WMP 11 is doing the "correct thing" by parsing and storing it that way in MP3 files.
