Re: ripping to FLAC

MM can convert to mp3 in batch format but the gold version has more functionality.

Remote Desktop Issues

My setup is a music server with Windows 7 (totally fanless, mini ITX machine - -> ZERO noise) controlled by a small laptop, remotely. Music is on NAS drives VNC controls the server - works fine I have tried Microsoft Remotedesktop: this logs on fine, boots Mediamonkey, songs are visible (not greyed ...

Need to restore files

I have several NAS drives of music, one of which has crashed. The manufacturer will be sending a replacement, although I don't know if it will be an EXACT replacement All of the music has been tagged and much of it has lyrics from Lyricator. The music on the drive is backed up. The MM database is ba...

Registering Gold for second instance of MM

I am setting up a Second Computer that will only PLAY music. It is not going to be used for tagging, lableling, etc. Those functions will be done with the original installation of MM. I am a Gold User. Is there any reason/advantage to register the Second Computer as Gold? FWIW: For any who are inter...

Re: MM as a server

Another product is Remote Speakers Output (RSO) by Eric Milles. Costs about the same but works only for MediaMonkey - not every sound from your PC - and is therefore possibly less useful to you. I found RSO to work much more reliably than Airfoil but your mileage may vary. Another option, now adays,...

USB DAC and spitting noise

Just bought a USB DAC - MusicStreamer II - favorably rated by the stereo magazines. The device self installed and plays but has a wretched "spitting" noise. Sound occurs randomly, lasted a fraction of a second (an electronic "spitting" sound). Occurs every few minutes but is random. Not related to a...

Wisdom of "multiuser" approach

I am happy with MM. Library has ~ 80K song. I have used Remotespeaker output to stream to AE's. Works flawlessly for me. I am going to see if I can upgrade the sound quality with a DAC. I added a DAC to the AE without improvement (IMO, at least). Next plan is to get second computer (Computer #2)on t...

Re: MM to Stereo??????

I have no other suggestions except to note that I found the Eric Milles product to be far more reliable. I have never heard it "drop" music with several AE's working simultaneously. I tried Airfoil, various versions, and could never get it to play more than a few minutes without dropping. The develo...

"Multisuer" - sort of

I would like to use MediaMonkey on 2 computers - rarely simultaneously. The reason do do this is that one computer will stream music to several AirportExpresses and 1 computer will be more of a high end installation with DAC, etc. Thus the computers will have different MM Output Configurations. If I...

Re: Just purchased MM Gold - newbie questions

Not exactly what you asked

but

If one uses EAC to rip, you can change the album name and, arguably, you get better ripping results.

USB DAC and wireless output

I am currently using Eric Milles' Remote Speaker Ouput that wirelessly streams to Apple Airport Express(es). Multiple rooms at same time. Works great I am thinking about getting a USB DAC on one stereo. Will these coexist IN THE SENSE of letting me use both SIMULTANEOUSLY - or am I going to have to ...

Re: MM to Stereo??????

I am a little confused if you have desktop and a laptop or just one device. ("I am not looking to control the playlists from the stereo") Get an Apple Airport Express ("AE")- ~$100.00 Get Eric Milles software - ~$25.00 (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia ... kers.shtml) This will allow you to s...

Re: how do I output digital MM to USB

FWIW

Eric Milles software and an Airport Express has worked flawlessly for myself and 4 friends in multiple setups. No dropouts, etc. Easy to install and allows multiple devices.

Whether it is the ultimate in fidelity is another issue but it is at least as good as a high quality CD setup.

Re: Ripping of Large CD Library (11k+)?

If you have multiple drives, EAC can rip simultaneously.

The process is slower for each CD, however.

On the other hand, you don't have to get up as often and "feed the CD ripping beast" as often - a big advantage.
