I would be very wary of changing the Artist by SQL. Changing stuff like PlayCounter is one thing, but changing key fields like Artist Name is another. I believe MM does some additional stuff when you change an Artist Name through its interface. For example, let's say we have these two artists: The B...

New script: Moves first word in artist to last

Note: Please see later version(s) of this script in later notes. 'moves first word in artist to last. 'example: The Beatles --> Beatles, The ' Bob Dylan --> Dylan, Bob Sub MoveFirstWord ' Define variables Dim list, itm, i, ParsedArray ' Get list of selected tracks from MediaMonkey Set list = SDB.Sel...

You are correct - Setting Progress = Nothing doesn't affect the operation of the script. It does release your reference to the RAM allocated to that object, however. Depending on how VB Script (or MediaMonkey itself) works, not setting objects = Nothing could cause that RAM to stay allocated after t...

That's a good idea! This, then, is the latest version of my IncrPlayCntr script: 'increments play counter Option Explicit Sub IncrPlayCntr ' Define variables Dim list, itm, i ' Get list of selected tracks from MediaMonkey Set list = SDB.SelectedSongList If list.count=0 Then Set list = SDB.AllVisible...

Inside Access, dates are delimited by # symbols. Thus, today's date would be #3/12/2004#. A query that returns all songs played today looks like SELECT Songs.LastTimePlayed, Songs.* FROM Songs WHERE (((Songs.LastTimePlayed)>#3/11/2004#)); Remember, the date is really made up of date AND time, so cha...

I just implemented the ExecSQL method in my script, and it works great! Now, my next question: How can my script refresh the list of selected songs (or the entire Tracks pane)? Even though the database has been updated, I can't see it in MM until I manually do a refresh. Not a big deal, but it would...

Thanks for checking that out, Pablo. I guess it's one of those properties that Jiri thought only MM should be updating and thus made it read only via the Item object? And double thanks for coming up with the workaround! I'll give it a shot. I also like some of the other touches in your script such a...

Pablo, are you sure that your scripts are actually updating the PlayCounter in the database? The reason I ask is that I wrote an alternate version of your script to do just the simple incrementing that I need without having to prompt the user, but the script doesn't actually update the database. Her...

Looks good, Pablo! There are a couple of things that I would do in addition: 1) Make a simplified version of SetPlayCounter that doesn't ask the user for a value. It would simply increment the PlayCounter column by 1. I would use that version of your script 99.99% of the time. 2) I am also a bit con...

I was thinking it would be something like that. I am more familiar with Oracle SQL (I do Access queries through its GUI design mode.), so I couldn't really offer any suggestions. Glad you figured it out!

No trouble at all! Simply highlight all of the tracks you care about, and use shift-enter to do a mass edit of the custom1 field. No more difficult than any other edit of properties.

It's actually not a lot of work. You can set up the query just one time and then run it whenever you need to. - I did it once per CD-R in the All node of Locations when I was scanning in old CD-R's that I had already listened to. - I do it whenever I transfer songs to my portable listening device. I...

Tip: Way to update Played# for songs not played via MM

I check for "Played# = 0" in filters to determine what songs I haven't listened to yet. This works fine for songs played through MM, since MM updates that column when it plays the songs. It doesn't work well for songs that I listen to via my portable MP3 or for songs that I'd already listened to pri...
