Rusty, re. Stats: Here's some examples for statistics: - Total number of CDs entered (Actually, if there's a handle for other media formats, you could also have total number of DVDs, LPs, even-more-exotic-media...) - Total number of artists. - Total number of songs (okay, you can get these from the ...

Hi there, the easy way to do this (IMHO) would be tweaking the cdplayer.ini file and enter your data there. You'd have to check on the CD label so the CD gets recognized properly, of course. Otherwise, cdplayer.ini is just a text file you can point your favourite editor to. I've been doing it a lot ...

Hi all,

I second that wish! It would help a lot for mass updates if there were a "{yes,no} to all" button.

Cheers, Susanne

Some small and one big enhancements

Hi all, I've been working a lot with the program these days and here's some ideas I had about enhancing it (no particular order): - Statistics (global and maybe configurable): Something like total number of CDs, MP3s, Songs, ... or CD with the biggest number of songs, average song length, average nu...

Updating song title screws up location in Beta 5

Hi all, downloaded Beta 5 yesterday and have just encountered a major problem: I am entering my CDs into the database and want to change the titles for some tracks. When I do so and save the result Songs-DB wants to change the track's file name and "saves" the update to some "A" drive (I definitely ...

Path for changing file names

Hi all, When I try changing file names via Tools|Auto-rename Files... the destination is always the last directory I worked with and not the current directory where the files-to-be-changed reside. This is sort of awkward, I always have to type the directory or browse to it and then enter the file ma...

Multiple databases, database path

Hi all, I found in some older post that you can change the path to a database or switch between multiple databases using the parameter DBName in the songsdb.ini file. However, I didn't find the parameter in the new beta version's ini file, and there was nothing that looked like a replacement. Is the...

Jiri,

thanks! This is what I was looking for. Now I only need some way to enter a media I cannot put in my CD drive (like LPs). :-)

Hm, well, it does, sort of. But can you tell me more about the filter and search functions (I don't usually go to sleep on my PC, so the sleep function is not that important for me ;-) ). With advanced search, can I access the Detailed fields for the tracks directly. e.g. look for Composer or Lyrici...

Suzanne, you put this in quotes and yet I find no menu item thus named. Do you mean File > Scan Media(add to database)? Tree view on the left:Open "My Computer" on the bottom and right click on the CD icon. You'll get the menu I'm talking about, and the item is right on top. Do you mean Highlite tr...

Entering CDs that are not in freedb

Hi all, Looks like I've found a workaround for entering CDs that are not in the freedb database: Read in the CD via "Add tracks to the library...". After you get the "not found in freedb" message, give all the tracks a rating, e.g. *. Take the CD out of the drive (so Songs-DB won't try to update the...

Custom fields, Genre sort

Hi all, a couple of questions from a novice user: Is it possible to change the names of the "Custom [123]" columns to something more meaningful to me? The genres open to artists which open to albums by default. Can I change this so albums are shown first in the tree? I really like the tool so far. T...

Differences between Songs-DB and Gold Version

Hi all,

Downloaded Songs-DB today, already moved to the beta version, and I like the tool a lot. However, it's not clear to me from the docs and website just what are the additional features of the Gold version. Is there a simple table or list comparing the features of both versions?

Cheers, Susanne
