Start with a new database, but back up the old one

I'm sure this info is out there somewhere, but i haven't been able to find it. regardless, apologies in advance for posting such a basic question. I want to start my mediamonkey database anew. It has my music scattered across various permutations of the Music library in windows 7, since i've been up...

Re: file types in mm4

Thanks. Would you categorize lectures and the like as type "Music" or "Audiobook"? I'm leaning towards audiobook, as I assume that keeps a bookmark.

file types in mm4

Hi Folks, I'm a bit confused by this whole "types" thing in mm4 (i assume it wasn't around in mm3 - i don't remember seeing it). I used to control my collection by defining the music node to not include tracks with the genre "books & spoken". Now, however, the music node is made up of tracks of "typ...

blue glass in mm4

hi folks,

is blue glass supported in mm4? just installed mm4 (yay!!!), selected the blue glass skin, but there are strange color things happening in mm's title bar. Or, perhaps there are more up to date skins I should be using that support aero, etc?

thanks!

level playback volume per album/per track

hi folks, is there any way to automatically alternate between leveling playback volume per album versus per track depending on whether you're playing random tracks versus albums (kind of like how Automatic Crossfade works, but for leveling)? Also, it'd be great to be able to tag certain albums to pl...

Re: Forget Crossfade Script [MM3] -(auto crossfade switchin

For some reason, forget crossfade is no longer recognizing songs that are in the same album, and is hence not turning off crossfade when it should. any ideas about how to debug this problem?

thanks...

ASIO/Kernel Stream/??? for best audio?

Hi Folks, I'm interested in looking into piping audio directly to my audio DSP chip instead of routing everything through windows. I'd like to see if I get noticeably better sound quality this way, esp with my FLAC files (will I notice any diff?). But, I'm confused. There's ASIO, Kernel Streaming, W...

Re: MusicIP Tagger 1.8 - Updated 24/02/2011

Can you try this app to see if it can generate Short filename for those that fail with script? http://www.happymonkeying.com/forum/Short_Path.exe Peke - any idea where this program came from? Doesn't seem like it works from the command line or anything, but it'd be great if we could find one that w...

Re: MusicIP Tagger 1.8 - Updated 24/02/2011

gotcha, so it's a vbscript limitation then? regarding the NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation issue, once you change the registry key, it apparently affects files and folders created from that point onwards. So, for example, if i were to change the key now, i would have to re-create my entire Music directo...

Re: MusicIP Tagger 1.8 - Updated 24/02/2011

oh yeah, good point - especially with many tracks usually being named in a very similar way, you are almost sure to have ~1, ~2, etc. Hmm. Yeah, I can see how that would get complicated quickly, figuring out how many 8.3 files there are with the same prefix in a directory, which gets "~1", which get...

Re: MusicIP Tagger 1.8 - Updated 24/02/2011

Hmm - I wonder if it has to do with the NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation registry key. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/121007. In my Win 7 installation, this key is set to "2". I could try to set it to 0 and restart to see what happens, though I'm a bit concerned about what else I might break by doi...
