Re: Classical Music path(s)?

I assume that you are referring to file paths. I don't get too picky about how my files are organized in Explorer other than that I want is simple with short directory names. I go simply with music\album artist\album. I assign all of my albums a single album artist. If there is an orchestra or ensem...

Re: Date and O. Date?

For classical music, I use date for the year the track was recorded and original date for the year the composer completed it. So a recording of Beethoven's 5th symphony made in 1959 would have a date of 1959 and an original date of 1808.

Re: Newbie questions

Yep, but I don't want to need to bother with that conversion. Since I have no intention of using non-Apple portable devices due to having so much money invested in non-music content and apps locked into the Apple universe, ALAC is simplest. MM plays ALAC just fine, so no need for FLAC for me.

Re: Newbie questions

I would agree that FLAC is the best choice if you do not have an Apple device. I ripped all of mine in ALAC so that I can play lossless on Apple devices without needing to convert from FLAC during synchronization.

Re: Looking for suggestions for MP3 player

I use a 256GB iPhone 7. If they start making a 256GB iPod touch, that would be great.

Re: Clarification before buying an MP3 player.

This has been an enlightening thread. I've been wondering for a long time why play counts and ratings don't sync back from my iPod Classic or iPhone. Somehow I never came across the answer on the site. It would be nice, but not essential. What is essential is that MediaMonkey does not choke to a sta...

Re: Transfer all music files to external drive

Resurrecting this thread to get a little clarification so I do not make a devastating mistake. I have a normal install on my desktop and have spent years collating a collection closing on a quarter million tracks. I now have a small 4TB external hard drive and want to change my MM to a portable inst...

Re: Entering 'Album' for a single?

I just go with the title of the song followed by (Single), much like iTunes, the program that I used before it started choking on my large library. I continue to slog away at getting everything right in my collection that recently passed 227,000 tracks, which is particularly hard because about a thi...

Re: Playing .M4P Files Purchased in iTunes

Only m4p files. I finally gave up. I moved all of the protected stuff back to iTunes, which I use to manage my iPhone and iPad anyway. I play the protected stuff out of iTunes and everything else out of MediaMonkey. If I really like a song that's protected, I either buy an unprotected version or the...

Re: Custom Report 3.2 - Updated 29/07/2014

I really like the "Just List Artists" report, but what I really want is just a list of Album Artists. When I tried to do that, it listed the album artist once for each track that artist is Album Artist for. How would I get it to only display each Album Artist once?

256K protected AAC play with sound; 128K do not

Aspects of this question have been covered in other threads, but no answer works for me. Running the latest released version of MM Gold with the most recent input codec pack on a powerful Win 8 machine. Latest versions of QuickTime and iTunes running and computer authorized with Apple. All of the pr...

Re: Questions Before I Commit

Oddly, more than half of my .m4p files will not play properly in MM, despite all being authorized and having QuickTime and iTunes on my computer. It makes no sense. From searching the forum, I see that others have had this same problem and have never received an answer that worked. At this point, I ...

Re: How big is you music collection? (2)

Well to make sure you feel at home. ? What are you doing having that many songs why you, you can't possibly have so little to listen to. :) notice the difference between ipod people who are strictly for Apple players. And MediaMonkey people who need more room for music and video with a player that ...
