I've managed to somehow lose this toolbar at the bottom of the Now Playing window: -



View - Show Now Playing Controls is already checked, but toggling it on and off does nothing.

I was using the first release of MM4 with "Check for updates (when connected)" checked, but it didn't work, as I visited the website today and noticed that version 4.0.1.1461 was available to download, but I wasn't prompted to update. Will auto-update work in the current version?

Errors like that seem to occur when your library database becomes corrupt and the solution seems to be to delete it and rebuild the library, unless someone has a better suggestion.

As for the update prompt, which version of MM are you running?

It happens every time for me. It sounds like your installation may be corrupt as your player looks nothing like mine and the skins aren't working. When I upgraded from MM3 to MM4 I had a bunch of issues too and I had to do a clean install of MM4, but then everything worked OK.

The ability to rate tracks in the player is still there in MM4, over on the right-hand side in the default skin: -



As for your second issue, have you tried restarting MM after changing the skin? You shouldn't have to do that, but it might work.
