Adding to library over network is crazy slow

Postby Jairus » Thu Aug 23, 2012 9:29 pm

Hey! So I upgraded to the latest media monkey, and it corrupted my library. So I uninstalled, reinstalled, and tried to add my network drive back to the library. It's taking between 5-10 seconds a track, which means that there's no way I can get my music in there.

Things I have tried:
- Making sure that a node with a lot of files isn't selected
- Optimizing the library
- A bunch of network stuff. Network performance is fine.

Thoughts?

Is the library also at a networked location? Or is it stored locally?

Unless you changed the location of the database your database would be local in it's default location.

Should be in the default location, then.

How are you repopulating your library? Presumably you are adding/rescanning?

When you say your previous library was corrupted, what do you mean?

And when you attribute the corruption to the upgrade, how did you decide it was MM that did it?

Just trying to get a clearer picture of what's going on...

I'm re-adding/scanning my network drive where all my music is held.

What happened with my previous library is that everything was working fine, MediaMonkey said there was an upgrade available, and then when I went back into MM post-upgrade the library paths for all my music were changed from "S:\Music\MP3s\foo\bar\baz.mp3" to something like "A#($$(F(ASMK@#$ar\baz.mp3" -- and for obvious reasons, none of my MP3s would play. There were no other changes to my PC aside from that upgrade of MM. It was working, I upgraded, and then it didn't work anymore.

You can either use File > Locate Moved/Missing Files or easier: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63823 from: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... w_computer

Unfortunately, I have since then uninstalled/reinstalled MM, and wiped the DB. So I need to re-add everything.
