Volume level question

Post by Lowlander »

I'm wondering if it makes a difference on what machine (soundcard) you do the volume levelling or that no matter what system/hardware you use the results will be the same?

The actions MM does with audio when doing volume levelling are hardware independent. When it analyses the audio, it simple goes through all the samples and when levelling is applied all samples are multiplied by a constant before they are sent to the sound card.

I'm afraid my question was unclear or I'm just misunderstanding the answer, sorry.

But I'm talking about calculating the volume levelling not about using that number for playback.

Let me know if you are talking about the same.

Yes, my answer was meant to both parts of the process, neither the calculation nor the actuall process of levelling is hardware dependent.
