free version now expired

Post by mazza15 » Wed Feb 25, 2009 4:40 am

Been using media monkey for (obviously over 30 days), went to rip some music today and get a message saying it cannot bundle MP3's beyond 30 days I need to upgrade.

I thought this was free - does everybody pay and upgrade it's just that WMP is free.

This has to do with the licensing of the MP3 Technology or whatever. You can continue encoding in MP3 if you supply your own encoder (such as LAME). There's some threads/tutorials somewhere around here which should explain to you how to set up your own encoder to continue on without having to pay in you insist on staying on the free version. User the search function, or you might check the wiki.

Yes, many people pay. Its a nice way to support a good product and you even get some other nice features with it.

The gold version is well worth the fee, aside from the fact that you'll feel good about contributing.
