Custom fields, Genre sort

Post by tralla »

Hi all,

a couple of questions from a novice user:

Is it possible to change the names of the "Custom [123]" columns to something more meaningful to me?

The genres open to artists which open to albums by default. Can I change this so albums are shown first in the tree?

I really like the tool so far. The only real drawback is that you can't intuitively enter CDs that aren't found in freedb. Still looking for a workaround for that...

Thanks, Susanne

Re. ability to rename custom fields: currently we don't support this. It's a good point, though, and should be doable in a future version.

Re. ability to change the hierarchy within different nodes. This isn't currently supported ;-(

Finally, re. ability to edit freedb queries and/or enter data for CDs that aren't found, this is something we plan on adding soon.

Glad to hear you're enjoying Songs-DB!!

Actually, there is one way of setting custom field names. It isn't possible using the application interface, but you can edit the Songs.ini file and find the section:

[CustomFields]
Fld1Name=Custom 1
Fld2Name=Custom 2
Fld3Name=Custom 3

There you can enter field names you need.
